I was on Flagyl for quite some time and now I think I have nuro problems because of it... Mostly my legs, I kept getting this electric feeling in the base of my spine, and now my legs are messed up... When I got from a laying down position to standing they jerk back and forth uncontrollably until I get control of them. Or when I am standing in certain positions they start to move back and forth in an uncontrolled manner. Been going on for months now.
Anyone else relate or have some advice?
Thanks,
Kuda

I think it depends on what you consider a long period of time.
I took Flagyl every day for 1 month. To me that is long enough; although you may need to come back to it again somewhere along the way.
I don't look at Flagyl as a long term antibiotic, like say Doxycycline, which you can take everyday for years.

I was told by a very good LLMD that Flagyl shouldn't be taken for more than 2 months, after that you should switch to Tinidazole and then Plaquenil. He's had alot of success with this treatment and has successfully cured several people. Yes, he does believe in curing Lyme. Unfortunately he is now retired.

So sorry to hear about your situation, kuda. Flagyl has the potential KNOWN side-effect of permanent neuropathies. Your LLMD was negligent and should have stopped it long before you got to this point. In my view, things like this should never happen! Too many symptoms are attributed to herxing. Medications can have significant and serious side-effects, including death.

If flagyl and tini are the only cyst busters, and you can't take them, then what do you do?
sutherngrl: did you take any other meds for that month that you took flagyl?
-------------------- First Symptom 9/09 Multiple docs, negative Labcorp test LLMD: 1/10 Positive Igenex/CDC test Treatment 2/10 2/10-8/10 Amox, ceftin, zith, flagyl Currently: Bicillin, Minocycline, still dealing with severe breathing issues

I don't know what you do. I can't take those cyst busters. I tried grapefruit extract, and it thoroughly burned my stomach and set off irritable and painful bladder syndrome. Maybe an enzyme would work?
