I went to medical dr today for a severe sinus infection. I had been on Bactrim DS a week ago (for 11 days) but infection came back with a vengence.
Anyway, MD gave me script for clindamycin 300 mg x4 aday. After reading what I have about c-diff I am now scared of it.
I did call my LLMD and left message letting him know what I has taking.
I dont know whether to call him back and ask for something different or give it a try?
I have seen where several have said it is important to take florastor with it..
MY MAIN QUESTION IS: I have a ProbioMax DF by Xymogen that my LLMD gave me and was wondering if that is the same thing (or similar to florastor) or if I need to go to drug store and get the actual florastor.
The package for the ProbioMax say the ingrediants are:
Please help with any info as I have already started the clindamycin and now am scared as to what to do.
Thanks all (:

Florastor contains S.Boulardii. It is a friendly yeast that helps prevent C.diff. You should definately take it while on antibiotics, especially clindamycin.
Your probiotic by Xymogen does not list S.Boulardii as an ingredient so you will want to add it to your supplement list. Xymogen does make a different product containing S.Boulardii, so does Jarrow brand. I'm sure there are others at the health food store. Your local pharmacy will carry Florastor brand.

I have been on oral clindamycin for four years and have never had C diff. I think, once again, we're all different when it comes to our reactions.
I started at 150mg 4x/day and am now able to treat symptoms with 150mg 2x/day.

Florastor is excellent, important, valuable.
Two pharmacists filling abx scripts praised me for taking it.
