Had the herx from hell which I feel I never recovered from from the end of July from

rifampin. Doc told me to drip 4 days zithro, the other days oral, mino and day and

tindamax , 5 dys on, 5 days off. Haven't been in a good place to start, raising

salt to 6,0000 mgs a day just in case my salt drops again like it did when I was on the

rifampin. Feel like hanging it up, but my llmd says to trust her. She got me through before

and she'll do it again. Hard with ocd/anxiety, bart and ehrlichia, like all of you with the

hell you go through. If tindamax starts me off like the rifampin, I'm calling it quits on that,

can't go through the rifampin herx again.

Suggestions?

Hang in there, it's not easy. There were meds that I could not tolerate because of the exaggerated herx I got from them.

My first huge herx was on Claforan and I thought there was nothing comparable to it.

Guess what...there is...rifampin herx

Honestly, I thought I would not make it and that it was my end.

I just stopped my meds for a week until I felt strong enough to take another herx.
gluthation IV works for me.

I forget to mention that my second rifampin herx was much easier to handle.

Do not give up.

Hang in there Putnam. Sometimes it's hard to have to change meds. Try not to worry about the side effects and possibly herx reaction. Just jump in and see what happens. It may be the right combo that you've been needing, the key to your recovery. Lets hope [Smile]

Sounds like your LLMD really cares and wants you to get well. And it sounds like you can trust her because she's already pulled you through some tough times.

Take care and good luck! You can do this [Smile]

I can relate. I also have OCD and when you get something like bartonella which can almost make you lose your mind on its own....it's not a good combination! I start literally throwing things at people during my bart flares!

You will get there, just hang on

How long did it take for the Rifampin herx to begin for each of you? I'm asking because I

started it for the first time one week ago and today I've started feeling achy and painful and

like a herx is definitely coming on! Is it normal for it to just now be flaring up?

Thanks and I hope you do ok with your newest meds, LymePutnam!

(((hugs)))

I could only take it for 5 days. You're already ahead of the game by being on for a week. Good luck.

So sorry to read any of my Lymenet friends going through a horrid time.

My first herx was from Doxy. It was from an extremely low dose too.

I cannot imagine what you went through with all the meds they have you on.

I just wanted to send you my best wishes and let you know you are in my thoughts and prayers. [group hug]

Good luck to you. This disease is horrid.

Can't do it. Took 2 doses yesterday and one today. I'm not back yet from rifampin and not in the mental place to start. IV zithro 4x a week and mino. That's going to have to do for now. With Gods help, can work upto it. Love my doc, but I have to live in my head.

Dear lyme in Putnam;

Reading your first post is what makes me fear going to an LLMD. I have heard (read) horrible herx stories.

Just knowing how I felt while on Doxy was hard to get through.

I cannot imagine how you feel.

You are so right when saying "With Gods help". He is the one that is going to get us all through this.

Still in my prayers.
