Happy weekend so far.
Being treated for bart, babs, and lyme. The treatment for bart is cipro which has been tough especially this week.
I stopped it for a day to see if it was the meds causing so much pain. I know I'm herxing so this could be part of the problem as well. The main reason for stopping the cipro was the horrible pain in my hands. But remember had this when I began lyme treatment last Aug, 2009. Do you think that not taking one dose of cipro could improve the hand pain already?
Also, awoke this morning with major headache, brainfog. Could these be part of a herx as well? Also, major twitching while sleeping.
Any advice as it's been a rough night. Janice

I have definately noticed that brainfog is horrible for me during a herx, as well as more headaches. For example, I was off antibiotics for about a month, then just re-started again two days ago. I had a horrible migraine last night, along with agonizing pain in my back and neck. I know this is a herx.
Also, I have had twitching since yesterday in my legs and feet.
As far as the pain in your hands - that could certainly be part of it as well, although I am sure it could also be a symptom of the disease...how long have you been on the cipro? How long have you had the hand pain?
I'm sorry you had such a rough night Hope today is better! Julie

Hey Julie, thanks so much for responding. I feel better knowing someone else and others go through the same.
I have been on cipro for almost three weeks. The hand pain has been an issue since starting treatment a year ago.
I'm sorry you are having a tough time as well. What is the back pain from the herx? What are you treating and with what meds?
I hope you feel better soon as well too.

From what I understand, pain can appear anywhere during a herx and it's different for everyone. For me, I have had neck pain since I was 15 years old, and with treatment it has gotten SO much better. At times I am pain free (first time in 25 years!). So for some reason, my herxes are in the neck/shoulders/back a lot.
I am on Amoxicillan and Minocycline right now. Also neurontin for the pain, but just started that again last night so it's not helping yet:).
My LLMD wants me to do hydrogen peroxide drips once a week- I have to look into it more. She also wants me on IV Rocephin but I am waiting for a call back about how much it will cost. I don't think my insurance will pay for it.
I started treatment in Dec. 2008- still going at it, but it hasn't been consistent...I have babs, bart, ehrlichia and lyme. Not sure which I still have, actually!

Hi, i have been on neurontin for the most part daily. The llmd gave me this to help with the twitches I was having. It helps a great deal but makes me groggy sometimes.
I'm curious about the hydrogen peroxide drip. What does that do?
I think the muscle twitches are part of bart and lyme.
My herxs for some reason hit me the worse in the ribs, hands two areas that were the first indicators of lyme and co.
Do you work while treating? I do and at times it can be tiring but I find keeping busy,,helps me not to dwell on it.

This was posted on a fb page. Don't know if I can link it but you may be able to find it by search.
Hope it helps.
Lyme patients usually find Nutramedix Burbur 8 drops in 1/2 cup of water every 10-15 minutes for 1-2 hours will resolve the Herx reaction whether it is from pharmaceutical antibiotic or herbal antmicrobial die-off or from microbe die-off after Teslar frequency therapy for Lyme.
the 8 drop dose every 10-15 minutes works for 99% of patients between 100 pounds and 200 pounds body weight. Proportionately fewer drops can be used for those that are less than 100 pounds & proportionately more drops for those over ...200 pounds. The interval between doses should remain 10-15 minutes irrespective of body weight. Very sensitive patients often can rub the Burbur or Persley Detox drops on their abdomen or on their forearms with easy tolerance, but it is important that they still drink the water at the same time.
I don't know a thing about it maybe more know about the detox drops.
