Hi! I was wondering if everybody who has serologically negative Lyme disease (that is, tests negative) as well as those who show positive and are treating with antibiotics gets a Herx reaction? Thank you to anyone who replies!

I have personally not treated with abx, however, according to Dr. B (author of Healing Lyme) not everyone will experience a Herx reaction. It also doesn't mean that the medication isn't working.

I tested positive for Lyme and two coinfections. I am taking antibiotics and antimalarial for babesia right now, with some benefit for treating Lyme too. I do not believe I have had a herx reaction after a year of treatment, though I've never been certain how to differentiate between a herx and symptoms that come and go.

My herxing has been nondramatic, for the most part. I agree, it's hard to differentiate between symptoms that fluctuate and the possibility of a herx.
I was initially scared of what type of reactions I'd have, but my experience (after treating for over 1.5 yrs) has been that my worst days were before I bagan treatment.
Since beginning treatment, I have steadily added more and more good days to the mix.

I'm in my 5th month and am greater than 95% most days. I've never "herxed" per se. I've had a few days where I feel a bit off or tired / fatigued. That's about it.

For the most part, I don't have dramatic herxes either.
When I took Tindamax, I had some new symptoms pop up that I attributed to a herx. They were intermittent and did not affect my functioning for the most part.
A few times, when I took a Flagyl pulse, I felt like I had the flu.
I was IGeneX positive. My symptoms improve on abx. I've been treating for 2 years. I thought I was at 100% until I've had days where I felt more energy and motivation than I have had in years. I think that is the way I would feel if I didn't have Lyme.
