Yes, in this country. And it is the fastest spreading vector born infectious disease in the country. Not sure about worldwide.

Thanks Tammy.
Anyone know about the world? I'm adding it to my literary attempt, and I don't want to spread poor info-

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21073144 2010 Sep;17 Abstract The list of tick-borne pathogens is long, varied and includes viruses, bacteria, protozoa and nematodes. As all of these agents can exist in ticks, their co-infections have been previously reported. We studied ...co-infections of emerging bacterial pathogens (Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato, Anaplasma phagocytophilum and Francisella tularensis) in Ixodes ricinus ticks in Serbia.

By the CDC's own estimate, it is 4X as common as AIDS. So it is the #1 disease in the country, and probably #2 worldwide after Malaria.

Good thing it's so common, otherwise they might not have funded all that research, or agree that it exists.....

Thanks everyone.
I will not say anything about the world, unless I can reference good literature, but I did want to send that info along with my manuscript to the publisher.
They have to see a need for this book, and the stats would sure help.
