Does anyone experience this? My daughter has lyme and babesia. Currently on Zithromax and just started taking Malarone. Headaches has always been one of her constant symptoms, really scares me. I asked her LLMD to get a MRI but he never feels it's necessary. Today, she said she had shooting pain in one side of head for 20 minutes then it just went away. Should I keep insisting for an MRI? I would take her to her pediatrician but she is so clueless with lyme and knows nothing about what she's going through right now. That I don't know what to do. She has neurological lyme, most of her symptoms were in that area. Thanks to anyone who can share your opinion/experiences.

Twenty minutes is a very long time for such a shooting pain! How old is your daughter?

Wish I had an answer for you. Might be a good idea to get an MRI.

MRI couldn't hurt.

Daughter has had these pains too. They do not seem to last long.

She has Lyme, Bart, Erhliciosis, not diagnosed with Babs, but wonder if she has this too.

They seem to get better after taking Rifampin.

Hopefully someone will come along with more info.

Hope she feels better soon.

i have had shooting pains for 20 years. along with headaches. Over the years i had several MRI's and ALL were normal.

I was diagnosed with Lyme 3 years ago and for three years straight, not a day has gone by w/o shooting pains, lightheaded, and headache...

some days are much better than others. but the symptoms are always there.

I have also had the blood vessels of my brain looked at and the neuro claims that they're fine.

That said, I would insist upon a MRI to r/o any abnormalities. Just wanted you to also know that this sort of pain can be part of the illness.

Best,
feelfit

Thanks everyone for your responses... I'm really going to insist he lets her get an MRI. I don't see the harm, it's better to find nothing than to find something later and I have the insurance so I don't know why he's so hesitant to do this? LLMD's can order regular tests right? He seems to keep everything in house, blood work, everything..

She was getting daily headaches, not constant, they would come and go but at least one headache per day.. She's allergic to motrin and NSAIDS, so no aspirin, aleve, motrin, etc. She can only take Tylenol which is tough on the liver. Her headaches have gotten better, not every day now... but she had the one day of the shooting pains in the head and she described it as not a headache, but shooting pain and it went away... I don't know what to think of it. She is on Malarone now, only for about a week and a half.. so maybe it's her body herxing and it's actually doing something to the buggers in her head... I'm hoping that is the case.
