So...I went off my20 mg of Prozac n Sunday. I have another month to fill bt the pharmacy was out and it was backordered.
Figured this was a sign that it was time. I should have never gone on in the first place. Before my lyme dx I was told my anxiety was due to depression. Thus the prozac. Now I know it was due to lyme / bart.

You might need to taper off. Prozac is supposed to be one of the easier ones to stop, but stopping an SSRI can cause withdrawal problems.

Hope you can get off of it....but yes, I've always heard it had to be tapered.
Let's hope you can do it anyway!

My psycho-pharmacologist says Prozac doesn't need to be tapered off. It has a half life of 36 hours and I'm on a relatively low dose.

You have a "psycho-pharmacologist"? You might want to consider finding a mentally stable pharmacologist...
Seriously, hope all goes well with one less pill to pop!
I tried 2 different depression medications in the last 5 years and both, although very safe, helped for 2 months and then gave me anxiety and panic attacks (never had them before - very scary). I now know what caused my depression and with abx am back to myself (unless I'm herxing)!
Now I can see and appreciate the humor in life and enjoy it!

If you have any trouble, some B-Complex might help!
Just goes to show that "depression" is a fake diagnosis. Depression is a SYMPTOM, not a disease!!

Depression may be a symptom, but during the time you are treating the main cause (ie, the infection, whether it be Lyme or the many others), treating the depression may be absolutely necessary, even life-saving for some.
bcb1200 - I'm so glad to hear you are doing better and I wish you the best in getting off of the Prozac, I have heard that it is one of the easier ones to wean off of... in fact I was told by my NP, that when I was ready to go off of the Lexapro (another SSRI) the best way to do it, would be first to switch over to Prozac, then wean off of that.
