I tested positive for parasites, LLMD gave me Alinia 500 mg 3 times a day for 30 days to take.

Would like to know if anyone else here has taken this drug before and if you herxed off of it.

It is suppose to be an antiviral.

One pill and I was the sickest I think I have been before.

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

There has been several threads on alinia here in the past. Just type alinia into the search bar at the top for more info.

I have never taken alinia, but have taken a lot of antiparasitic herbs. You can really herx from antiparasitics.

Parasites put up a fierce fight and need more than one application to kill. Also type parasites into search bar.

Hope this helps.

I have taken Alinia and am going back on it. It has helped my gut alot as my skin was so oily before and my LLMD told me it was a gut issue. It has helped it clear up but is starting to come back. I herx from it and feel sick, but in the long run know it will help. For me Alinia and Mepron helped me alot. I take probiotics too. This is just my experience.

I did Alinia for months but at the time I was Very sick with a Babesia relapse so not sure if this would help.

I remember intestinal bloating and being really tired but not sure if it was the med or the babs.
I know, not much help but I didn't have anything really nasty happen with Alinia.

I have done Alinia twice now without any bad side effect. Lots of white sesame seed looking things came out.

I start Alinia tomorrow. My LLMD alternates 2 wks on w/ Alinia and 2 w/ Tindamax... for cysts. He has indicated that new info has found Tindamax to be #1 for cysts and Alinia #2, with Flagyl falling to the #3 spot now.

Not sure where he got this from and would like to know, because I have read that Tini and Flagyl are equally as good for cysts.

It made you sick in what way? Herx sick or nausea from meds sick? I am OK with herxing, but just don't want to be nauseous. If it was a herx for you, it may be that it's killing the cyst form too along with babesia, so it's doing double duty??

some info on antiviral possibilities, from wikipedia (for what it's worth)...

"It has also been shown to have activity against influenza A virus.[2] The mechanism appears to be by selectively blocking the maturation of the viral hemagglutinin at a stage preceding resistance to endoglycosidase H digestion. This impairs hemagglutinin intracellular trafficking and insertion of the protein into the host plasma membrane."

additionally, wiki has indicated that they have seen success with rotavirus, and have it in clinical trials for hepatitis C (in combination with something else)

I've taken it for a while with no side effects or issues.

Just make sure to get your metabolic panel (liver, kidneys) tested as usual.

I didn't know about the anti-viral properties of it (cool!), but have heard that *some* LLMDs think it may kill the cystic form of Bb.
