I would have thought 3 weeks on 200 mgs of Doxy would have knocked it out!
I went to a Rheumatologist to see what he had to say (without mentioning the Lyme diagnosis) and he mentioned Lyme but then gave me the whole speech on how not every tick carries it and he's not from around here. Blahh Blahhh Blahhh And it's rare. (he's definetely not from around here)
I was concerned cause I never found any ticks (except for 1 in my head 2 years ago), bulls eye rash or tested positive at local labs.
And mentioned Fibromyalgia but doesn't think I have that at all!
And he sent me for blood work for autoimmune diseases.
I know I am going to test negative on that Lyme test again!
I go back to see my Lyme dr next week and I feel he's gonna think I'm nuts cause he couldn't believe after 1 week on Doxy there was no change.
It hurts to hold my head up early evenings due to neck pain.
My wrists were so bad for 2 days now it's my knees.
Specifically my right knee is so bad now.
Can't remember anything!
And I have constant lightheadness or dizziness. Don't know what I am doing!!
Pains in my head above my eyes
Side pain, kidney (feels like it's there) pain, chest pain. Strange skin sensations (hot & cold & ice pick pain)
And this Rheumatologist who obviously doesn't put much stock into Lyme said I have slight Bells Palsy!!

You are herxing... and unless you were just bitten in the last few weeks, this could take a LONG while to clear the Lyme. (also, you need 400mg per day for it to do anything for you)
Do not trust any test to say you are clear of the Lyme... and especially no test other than one from Igenex.
Bells Palsy is a hallmark of Lyme disease. Dump the RA duck (dr). Find a real LLMD.

So glad you found this site before you listened to any more RA doctors. You don't get well on 3 weeks of doxy. If you have lyme and are not recently infected (as in a couple of weeks) you are expected to get worse - much worse.
As your body kills the infection, toxins flood your system which overload your kidneys and liver. You feel worse and even develop new symptoms. Giving the patient abx to see if they feel worse is a diagnostic tool used to determine if they have lyme. It is called a herxheimer reaction.
When I started doxy I was in bed for a month. My body was aching all over, headache beyond belief, dizziness and muscle twitching and chills. I stayed very sick for two months slowly becoming better. Three years later I am still not well but I am much better.
One very big warning. DO NOT take steroids because they suppress your immune system. The people who have the most difficulty recovery have compromised immune systems, often from being given steroids.
Get and read the book Cure Unknown and you will never go to any other doctor other than a LLMD. I hope you find one as soon as possible so save yourself more suffering.

Your doctor is NOT Lyme literate! If you have been ill for more than a few weeks or months, you will not likely feel better in one week.
It took me 2 years on antibiotics to feel any better; and I still feel crappy. Sorry, but thats not uncommon.
You need to get to a LLMD ASAP! Don't waste your time with these idiot doctors.

My doxy experience: 4 wks of doxy 200 mg twice per day, 0% better. 6 wks of same med and dose 10% better, 12 wks ... 85% better. Dull headaches in afternoons during 1st several weeks requiring occasional single advil tablet. Some cannot start out at this dose, I ramped up over a short period e.g. 1-2 wks.
