Have you all gotten well w/o Flagyl/Tindamax?

I see DR. P in CT and so far have been pretty happy. My only objection might be that he is pretty opposed to cyst-busters. Seems to think that they are carcinogenic, but don't quote me on it.

Although he does do pulse therapy, I am concerned that the lack of cyst busting will just lead me to inevitable relapse. Thanks in advance.

My doctor is the same way but he agrees to use Flagyl 2 weeks at a time. He doesn't really like to use it.

I have always felt that Flagyl or Tindi is an important part of treatment and wondered if it might be the key to turning a corner for me.

There are people that are well that have told me they felt it was a very important part of getting well.

I start IV Flagyl in about a week. Scared but excited.

Haley,

What does your Dr. say about why he doesn't like to use flagyl? Thanks.

My doctor had me start Tindamax and in the beginning I would start herxing after just 2 doses. I feel that it's helping me. Right now I only do the Tindamax on weekends.

Best,

He has seen many people get permanent nueropathy after taking it for prolonged periods of time. I believe that is his main reason but there may be other reasons.

Well then what should we do? I guess the pulse therapy approach's goal is to avoid cysts in the long run?

Are there any herbs that target cysts particularly well? Maybe cat's claw? I thought I heard some research to that effect.

He has me on MEPRON & biaxin...According to Dr P -MEPRON is one of the best cystbusters there is..

So you must be missing something...because I see your current treatment includes mepron..
Ask Dr P to explain this to you -he is a very knowledgeable LLMD and I have alot of faith in him..

Believe me mila, it's not for a lack of faith. Just trying to hit this thing from every angle, you know? And every Dr. does things differently. Definitely been very happy with him as a Dr. and owe him and his staff quite a lot even at this point.

I'll have to ask about mepron and cyst busting. I wasn't aware of that. Thanks.

MEPRON as a cyst buster??

That's a new one to me.

I think whatever you use, cyst busting is essential to recovery.

He's definitely receptive and open to different approaches. He just exercises care with the more dangerous meds. He's a good doc though...

He got me symptom free in 5 months time back in 2002 using 1 month tetracycline followed by zithromax mepron...then a couple months doxy..

That lasted until 11/09 when I flared again due to too much stress & not taking care of myself..

When I walked back into his office after a long hiatus- he talked to me on a first name basis and remembered everything about my case..

IMHO - he is one of the best llmd's in the USA...
and I've been to many over the past 21 yrs of dealing with lyme..

Grapefruit seed extract is supposed to be a cyst buster.

Just read on another thread that someone is taking amantadine with biaxin to help with cysts (did I get that right?)

I take tindamax two days a week.
