lymegal23, were you tested for coinfections? Some infections often found in people who have Lyme (can have them w/o Lyme too) can cause anxiety symptoms. Doxy will not kill these; other treatments are necessary. I'm tracing my painic attacks back to bartonella infection. No way to be positive, but that's what I think. I do not get them anymore now that I am in treatment. Best of luck; I hope you are feeling better soon.

I tested positive to lyme back in november of last year. it was a new infection. i never had any lyme symptoms before it so I think thats where it began. i was treated with the doxy for like 5 months

i recently had a standard regular lab test for co infections and bartonella quin and bartonella hanslaei came back IGG positive but not IGM positve at all,.

my current lyme test came back IGm positive 41 and 23. which is what its been all along

i am being tested thru ingenex and should know m results in a few weeks

tell me about your progress. what were your symptoms? how are things going now. I never experienced any bart symptoms until now,. if it even is bart. I might just be herxing
I have bad anxiety to begin with and OCD so you can imagine.

You might want to consider parasites as well. The discover of borrelia found filaria worms in the ones he worked with.

As well as to be sure and take something to prevent yeasts and a good probiotic to keep the bowels in ck.

My sister had panic attacks before lyme...and during they were worse.

She used xanax whenever she needed to to manage it.

Bartonella came to the surface more strongly as lyme was treated...for me.

it had been undiagnosed.

Severe anxiety and depression symptoms.
I had prescription IM and sublingual homeopathic remedies to keep it at bay...did not eliminate it of course since it was bartonella.

so the infections can make it worse.

Plus cause it.

My hormones were out of whack due to lyme & co also which affected emotions.

Neurolyme itself can do that.

Plus consider that all this is a big deal emotionally even if disease were not affecting you...and could easily exacerbate symptoms for you. Scary as you said.

You are doing a lot by talking about it on here.
Getting information to keep perspective and help yourself.

Having empathic listeners helps with this thing too when so few "get it". Isolation can really ramp up the scary factor.

Perhaps you can also check and see if there are any support groups near you.

praying you have relief and peace

Lymegal - just keep in mind that this too shall pass. When I first started treating this disease I had complete paranoia that seemed to come out of nowhere. It was such a terrible feeling. I thought it would never go away.

I'm happy to tell you that the paranoia feeling is gone. I did test positive for Bart. That may or may not have been the cause. I still have a lot of cognitive issues but the feeling of fear is gone.

It's one thing to feel physically ill but it's truly magnified when you feel fearful on top of it.

Hang in there you will get through it.

i take inositol (powder) for depression/anxiety- more for anxiety- it has a calming effect, especially when taken with GABA and Taurine (also helps Liver). Inositol and choline are needed by the liver and can be depleted, especially with abx treatment. Phosphylcholine contains both choline and inositol. My LLMD told me be to take Phosphatidyl Choline and extra Inositol- i take 12- 18 gm/day- high doses which have been studied for depression and OCD. Your're in my prayers Lymegal.
btw, Flagyl helped me alot with getting rid of Lyme- It was only left in my lymph system, until I stopped abx.

I've been diagnosed with Lyme, babesia, and two strains of bartonella - I'm sure there are more things that either weren't tested for or didn't immediately show up on initial tests. It's difficult to weed out the symptoms of one infection from another with complete accuracy, but these are what I think are/were my bart symptoms:

Interstitial cystitis, sore foot soles, anxiety attacks (awful feeling would pour over me like cold water, causing nausea and immediate loose stools, heart palps, cooooold all over and then sweaty), mood swings, hormone imbalance. A recent article I read suggests that even my cardiac symptoms may be a result of bartonella.

I developed a ritual for dealing with the panic attacks when I was home. Soft music to give me a focus, hot water bottle to help with the chills, quiet place where I could be alone to focus on getting through the symptoms. And, of course, I needed to be near a bathroom at all times.

Initial therapy for dealing with the problem at work: I took Librax and the precursor to Zantac. Later I switched to Paxil. Now I am doing okay without meds, just using supplements.

I hope you find an answer soon.
