I haven't spoken with my LLMD yet, but I received a positive Mycoplasma Pneumo test. I have heard of this, but I have no idea what the implications are. Does anyone know what this causes? Will this add a lot more depth to treatment i.e. will I have to be more aggressive?

I am so lost!! [confused]

Do a search here. It is often discussed. It's usually treated with doxy. I'm not sure about symptoms.

Google Dr Garth Nicholson

The cause? It's an infection. Vector-borne. It can travel along with lyme in ticks.

Top researcher on this topic, Garth Nicholson, Ph.D. detail here will answer many of your questions.

Q: Will you have to be more aggressive [with treatment]?

Yes and no.

Yes, if comparing treatment protocol to what a typical doctor might consider.

Yes, in that all the balls truly need to be kept in the air, so to speak. Attention to detail matters. Consistency and persistence are key.

No, considering the true complexity of what many LLMDs now refer to as "Lyme Complex" because it's usually never just lyme.

No, because ANY good LLMD should assess for mycoplasmas along with other tick-borne and other chronic stealth infections.

And, no, because nearly everyone with a tough case of lyme ALSO has several other coinfections.

No, in that, any treatment protocol for lyme should be aggressive, comprehensive and can take many months or years to reach a good solid remission.

While it's no blessing to have it, when present, knowing that mycoplasma is in the mix is a blessing - so that the best treatment outcome can be designed and actually has a chance.

Were it to have been missed, years could have been wasted spinning your wheels.

The drugs that treat LYme also treat myco pneu. so your abx will kill two birds with one stone.

My LLMD also has me on Transfer Factor PlasMyc (expensive, out of pocket) and that not only helps with Myco Pneu but with HHV6.

Dr. B has made comments that once Lyme is suppressed your immune system will fight the myco and keep it in check. All it needs is a good immune system.

You probably have other infections that this applies to as well. Go after the big infections, and things will fall into place.

I read an article about it, and I am so depressed about it! I just feel like it is just one more thing that is elusive and destructive.

Does anyone know the remission/treatment rate of it?

I have it too and have for years. Have been treating on and off for years. One of my doctors mentioned the Wheldon Protocol for it recently. Has anyone else here done that protocol? I always do better when I take an abx that hits Myco.
