OK...sorry for being annoying / paranoid. I'm experiencing something I haven't experienced yet during my treatment. I've mentioned it a few times in other posts, but will give a recap for those of you who are intersted.

Been treating lyme & co since May 10. 6 weeks doxy with Flagyl pulse. 12 Weeks Biaxin / amantadine w Flagyl pulse. 2 weeks Levaquin / Doxy w/ Flagyl pulse (achilles got sore..discontinued.) Started Rifampin on 10/4 with Biaxin, Amantadine and continuing the Flagyl pulse.

Up until I started levaquin I was doing pretty great. Probably around 95% most days. All without really ever having a Herx that I remenber. I went from 64 symptoms pre treatment down to 4. Mild tinnitus, mild calf twitching, mild eye floaters, mild left foot pain. LLMD and I strongly suspected Bart and I tested borderline positive for it.

First two weeks of Levaquin / Doxy were allright. Had some nausea (doxy usually doesn't do that to me) and fatigue / flu like symptoms in the AM some days. But when I started Rifampin I got a big change. 8 days of feeling bad with old old symptoms that I hadn't had in months. Flusing, nausea, sweating, word forgetfulness, mild brain fog, more muscle twitching, etc. Those have slowly subsided over the past week.

However...in the last two days I have gotten 2 new (original) symptoms. Primarily very stuffy feeling ears with hyperacusis and right eye vision issues (seems like my eye isn't "working" right.) had both of these before my Dx and haven't had them since the first month of treatment.

I'm very nervous it is some sort of relapse, but don't know how that could be since I'm on abx.

Could it be a herx? It is a full moon, I'm on day 18 of Rifampin for Bart, and I just started my exercise / weight routine this week. Today in the AM I was pretty good. Then I worked out at lunch with weights at the gym. Lots of reps at lower weights. Haven't worked out in months (except for earlier this week.)

If a herx, could exercise be the cause? Or is the Rifampin? Or am I going down hill for some reason?

Sorry this was so long. I guess you can see I'm a bit concerned. I don't ever want to visit that dark place ever again.

It's tough to say with certainty, but it sounds like a herx. You're on a good regimen so I'd be surprised if it were a backward slide.

I used to scoff at the moon thing, but I've been paying attention to its cycles lately and the fuller moon does seem to correspond to my bad days.

Maybe just give it a little more time to see if you can convert that 95% into a 100%. [Smile]

I've been pulsing meds 3 weeks on, 3 off. I've started to feel stronger now on my off weeks. So you may end up feeling better as you let up on the throttle again. Good luck.
