jpsmom, you can ask to read the vaccine package insert to verify that there is no thimerosal listed as an ingredient. I don't see why the pharmacist would lie to you. You trust him to fill your prescriptions with the appropriate medications and dosages.

Whether you decide to get the flu vaccine is up to you and your doctor. I'm just saying that there are ways to verify the contents of the vaccines if you are ever concerned.

I regret getting it!! Beleive it started my RELAPSE...ugggh

Finished 1 year oral abx last Aug, feeling great, No pain, NO issues...went to my GP for a regular check up and I agreed to the "FLU" shot..
(4 wks ago)

I've gotten one every year, even last year with the swine scare...but after getting this shot...
5 days later SO sick, sore throat, chills, aches and just irritable.

Went to llmd for him to take a look and rule in or out relapse... and he said it looks viral, just wait a few days. I failed to mention I got a flu shot.

Fastforward a few weeks, NOW I'm back on abx and having symptoms that are different from the first time around, Extremely fatigued, sore hips and tingle and numbness in hands at night.

All so weird...can't say for sure if it was the shot, or just a relapse waiting to rear it's head! But i'm betting my immune system wasn't ready for that shock...

NEVER again!
I'll chance getting the flu!

Even the mercury free may contain aluminum and other toxic additives.

I decided againts it.

I haven't had them in years but was being hounded by family to do it this year... I decided it was too much of a risk for me.

jpsmom:

For healthy people, I'd say they're fine; preservative free is best, and always do the shots, not the live vaccines.

But all vaccines trigger immune activation, preservatives or not, which can cause sick people, specifically those with infections and immunodeficiency, to get worse. Lyme counts as a serious infection, I'd say, but have you ever reacted unusually to a vaccine in the past?

I have, so it's a no-brainer for me.

If there's a chance you could have other coinfections and viruses, I would definitely not do it; the vaccine would make you worse. In my opinion it's better to "risk" the flu than to reliably cause that activation to yourself every year, when all health officials would advise you not to, under these circumstances.
