It woke me up in the middle of the night. A sharp, stabbing pain right in the middle (front) of the neck, I cannot decide if it is the trachea cramping up or the esophagus. When it occurs, it is very sudden and so painful that I don't move, I don't talk. I just wait for it to subside. The longest it has lasted was about 10 minutes. Has anyone experienced this type of "whatever"? If so, what is it? I don't seem to get answers from the medical corps. Any info will be truly appreciated. Thanks

I hsve gotten this on occasion and it's an esophogeal spasm. I don't know why it happens and how you stop it. When it happens to me..
usually when I'm sleepin it shocks me awake, and I sip water and it eases...but it is scarey.
