Hi All-

I was wondering if anyone ever went hyperthyorid/had vertigo/nausea from too much thyroid med? I think this has happened to me. I'm also having these weird freezing cold chills that "drop" through my body like a wave...very weird feeling....

I'm stopping the thyroid med per my doctor but this feeling stinks....Any helpful ideas if you go hyperthyroid?

I had untreated hyperthyroidism for quite a while and didn't have those symptoms. But that doesn't necessarily mean it wouldn't happen to someone else. I had the shakes, my hair would fall out, and my heart would race making me feel like I had just run up a set of stairs - I had to sit down a lot because of that. Could be the medication.

I get vertigo now, though, and I'm not hyperthyroid. I'm actually hypothyroid at the moment. It could be the Lyme meds causing it, though. Too many variables for me to figure out where it's coming from.

I don't believe these are typical hyperthyroidism symptoms. Some typical symptoms are nervousness, sweating, heart palpitations, breathlessness, tremors, increased hunger, weight loss etc.

I think hypothyroidism can cause vertigo.

Which thyroid med are you taking? Maybe the nausea is a side effect from the med?

My doctor started me on Armour but I had to stop because I had heart palps/racing heart...and extreme nervousness..In other words, it was way too much for me, per another doc, who said I shouldn't have been put on thyroid meds in the first place....

So, now I'm trying to get the meds out of my system but still experiencing episodic nausea, heart racing, and vertigo...

I wish this would go away!!! Horrible feeling!!

Sorry you are not feeling well.

Before our daughter saw a LLMD, we took her to an Endo. The Endo said all was fine- no thyroid treatment needed.

Daughter had abnormal high antibodies to Thyroid and borderline for Hypo.

I argued with Dr. and she finally decided to treat with a small dose of med.

Within hours of taking-Daughter was confused and dizzy, felt very hot.

I stopped the meds -even though the Dr. said it was not the meds. The dizziness, hot, confusion went away after stopping.

The LLMD said that she should not take the meds. It was not necessary and that treating the Lyme and Co. will correct the antibodies etc.

He was correct- the antibodies and other Thyroid readings all improved with Lyme and Bart treatment.

Unfortunately, her Thyroid seems to be acting up again-even though within the "normal Value." I feel it is because she needs to get back and treat the Lyme and Co.

I hope you feel better! These infections are just horrible!!

Bugg, I had this happen too- I'm still confused. I was very hypothyroid 5 yrs ago and my gyn found it. He put me on synthroid and cytomel.

I wanted armour but he wouldn't give it, said synthroid was easier to dose.

March of 2010 started seeing an NP who had started specializing in bio identical hormones and she switched me to armour. We were trying to dose by symptoms and basil body temp.

She was also trying to treat me for adrenal fatigue too. (all this before I ever thot about Lyme. Have had fibromyalgia for about 20 yrs or so and still not official with Lyme diagnosis but since I have most of the symptoms and Labcorp WB had 2 bands- waiting on Igenex WB results now)

Anyhoo, while raising armour dosage my temp never got anywhere near normal and still had symptoms but at same time I was getting so hot I cudnt stand it!

Then heart rate was 100-120, had horrible fatigue worse than normal, dizziness, heart PVC's (worse than usual), and awful nausea.

Was in hyperthyroid, stopped armour til labs came back down, restarted at lower dose but symptoms started up again.

Started back on 15 mg a day (compared to the 90mg 2x daily i was on at the hyper level). This was better but I still kept getting so nauseated and dizzy. And the other symptoms would come and go at a lower intensity.

Finally had to just stop completely. A week later tested blood and level is middle of normal. Was it my bioidentical hormones that fixed my thyroid levels?? Don't know. Glad not to take the med but confused especially since I still have hypo symptoms. Guess that could be from Lyme & co. (Pretty sure I have Bart and babs too).

i have treated my thyroid in the past, and have adrenal insufficiency. The most important symptom for me when having low cortisol was/is nausea.

When I have low cortisol symptoms I have severe nausea and dizziness. I have had heart racing and pvc's as well. I have been on thyroid meds for 7 years and suddenly this year have become intolerant of all thyroid meds.

Funny, my thyroid levels have improved since going off meds. I have been treating lyme for 2 ys. and adrenals for 3 ys, and thyroids been crazy for about 5-7 ys.

I still take hydrocortisone-low dose and abx for lyme. fyi....mookie
