I was looking for some kind of test to determine the permeability of the gut, and I found this link:

http://altmedicine.about.com/od/labtestindexbyfocus/a/Permeability.htm

"What this test involves
To perform the test, the patient fasts overnight, then drinks a mixture of lactulose and mannitol. The patient then collects urine for the next 6 hours."

Anyone have experience with this test? Can you attest to the accuracy and validity? Any negatives?

It seems like an important question, and if no one here knows I would suggest it raises an additional question of whether we have off board experts who might respond to some of this.

There is a womam here in northern california who has had a health radio program on the regional listener supported FM station for some 15 years who I could run it by.

I do not know if independent off board experts might be more willing to answer inquiries if they know their answers are going to be seen on this boiard or not

It also raises some additional questions.

Such as whether they would go on the record or whether their opinions could be posted but their identity were to remain confidential.

Also there would be a question of how the board could evaluate the credibility of an annonymus expert.

I am sure we could list their general credentials to some degree without compromising their annonymity.

But in some cases, like the woman I am suggesting, they may have few official credentials, but can nonetheless be quite expert on health issues.

I think we have many such types here.

This probably needs it's own thread, and I apologize if it saeemed inappropriate in response to this one in particular
