My CD57 is pretty damn low. 20. I have had countless blood work done by doctors and no one can figure out why im feeling so poorly. so that cd57, plus not feeling good and my western blot still being IGM positive for 41 and 23 has made me believe my lyme disease must have come back.

im starting treatment this week. Biaxin and planequil.

HOWEVER is there anything else I should get tested for. I realy want to rule everything out so I know its def lyme. I was tested for mono and hiv. both negative. im waiting results on EBV. I know Mycoplasma is very common. i havent been tested for it but ive heard biaxin can kill it and thats what i started taking

any helpful hints?

Symptoms + positive Western Blot + low CD 57 = Lyme Disease

You might have other things IN ADDITION TO the Lyme, but not instead of the Lyme! So you might test to see if other things also need to be treated.

Let's say you had a positive strep test ..... would you keep testing for other things denying you had strep?

My LLMD doesn't use the CD 57, so I don't know a lot about it.

Coinfections. They are diagnosed by symptoms because testing is not good.

Parasites are typical for Lyme patients to have. Humaworm and Parastroy (sp?) are two that are commonly used because you can buy them yourself, so don't need a script. If you've had Lyme any length of time, I'd assume you need parasite treatment.

Thyroid is another thing many of us need to treat.

When there is any question about a Lyme diagnosis, LLMD's sometimes run a CD57 and a C3A and C4A.

If the CD57 is low and the C4A is high that along with symptoms is enough to make a clinical diagnosis of Lyme.

That being said, there have been some on here that are in remission and their CD57 is still low. If you do a search on CD57 you will find several posts on this including this one.

I found it interesting that when I did a Google search for CD57 - Lyme disease is the main subject mentioned in the results.

You may want to do your own search for this. I wish my LLMD had done a CD57 - I don't see it in our blood work. [Frown]

Here is an excerpt from one of the sites I did some research on.

Test interpretation: Low CD57 occurs in chronic Lyme or when the disease has been active for over 1 year. The count reflects the degree of infection. It is not a diagnostic test but is used as a marker for Lyme being active. Test done by LabCorp.
* >200 is normal
* < 20 severe illness
* 0-60 is seen in chronic Lyme disease
* > 60 Lyme activity indicates improvement
