So I posted that we got my 4 year olds western blot last night and it was positive.

So his pediatrician wanted to see us to discuss the results.

She from the begining felt like we should have the test done given my history and pregnancy complications. We went and had a typical visit.

"Well it could be a false positive. He doesn't really have any symptoms. I can send you to an infectious disease MD. We can do 3wks of amoxicillin just to be safe."

I was not surprised by our visit. I know he needs to see a LLMD not an infectious MD.

So what about the amoxicillin? Should I start him on it since we have it?

I read somewhere that amoxicillin can cause lyme to turn into cyst form?

Also just to make my life a little easier my husband doesn't think we should do anything either.

I am about to loose it!

Here is what is recommended for "early" Lyme.

You may want to request more antibiotics and use Dr. B's guidelines as a back up for it with your current doctor.

A link to the full set of guidelines is at the bottom of the page at the link above.

You may want to start probiotics and some chewable vitamin D's, sooner rather than later.

Thank you both!

Tincup My son has gestational lyme so I am not sure if treating him from an early Lyme perspective is approp?

I am so confused? Does he have the dreaded chronic lyme?

He has lyme and the test is not wrong. If you look back on his life, I'm sure you will see things that don't seem normal in his behavior.

Personally, you could do the amoxi and see if he feels worse (herx) or gets any better. With my son, it took 5 weeks before improvement but it was a dramatic change for the better. It was then that we knew. He did herx too. The first week, he was always exhausted.

Really, you just need to get him into and LLMD.

YES Blinkie! I know your right! Once again!LOL

http://sites.google.com/site/drjoneskids/lab-tests/fda-warning

Why is this article up on this MDs website?

It is from the CDC and is almost opposite from what I have learned here at lymenet.

It is just creating another source that mis informs patients and doctors searching for answers.

BTW-I think about how you are today...all your issues and the possibility that you are a congenital lyme case. Getting your son treated may save him form much of the health issues you and your brother have had.

Please, just get him to an LLMD. Tell your hubby you want a second opinion from someone that knows what they are doing. You can request an apt at GMA from my LLMD or the one with WA initials. Or, go to Dr H in the south bay. At least GMA is more affordable.
