Does anyone else's air hunger seem to get worse at certain times of the day?

At least in this last bout of air hunger, it seems that for me it gets worse as the day goes on, and it's worst right around/just after supper.

I guess I could try changing around the time I take meds/supplements/herbs to see if that has any effect, but i was just wondering if there's anything to the time of day.

The way I feel right now, I'm also wondering what would happen if I used some of my son's albuterol with his nebulizer.

I've been tested for asthma, and told I don't have it, but I swear right now I feel like my chest is tight, like my esophagus or airways are constricted.

I haven't taken anything new, so I'm not thinking allergic reaction, and I'm not having any trouble swallowing, talking or even yelling at the kids, but it just feels weird right in the middle of my chest, right above the breastbone.

Do you get sharp pains in your chest area, or radiating around your sides, back or shoulders?

Do you notice improvement when leaning forward or standing, and worsening of pressure/tightness if you're laying down?

What is your current attack plan for Babesia?

No to the sharp pains, although I get discomfort up through my chest into my left shoulder.

I actually feel better when I lie down, at least usually.

I'm allergic to the abx for babs, so I just started a week ago taking artemisinin.

You mentioned pain right above the breastbone. I was just told today that Babs likes to hang around areas where there's bone marrow and the sternum is one of those areas.

Yeah, I'm beginning to the think the pain and discomfort doesn't come from the bones or muscles, rather nerves in that area -- the vagus nerve or phrenic nerve being affected.

Starfall, do you have any nerve issues? Tingling or numbness in the hands/feet or random pains?

Is this a new symptom for you after you started the Artemisinin?

Yes, I have had numbness/tingling in my hands, usually the left one. I have also had the stabbing, needle jab type pains.

No, it wasn't only after starting the art, although it did worsen for a few days after i started it.

OK, sounds like the same stuff I deal with.

When I first started Artemisinin, I'd have to slow down a couple of days to reduce the overflow of "herx" symptoms. I just rolled with how much I could tolerate, and if I felt a hard flare stopped until it was better.

If you want some quick relief, you can take an Aleve (ibuprofen). That usually takes care of the pressure and within an hour or so I was always able to breathe more comfortably. However, I would not recommend this everyday, only when you feel very uncomfortable.

Sometimes, working out helps as well, like cardio exercise. If you're able to do that, it's suprisingly helpful to pump the lungs with air.

Overall, it's improved. I rarely need an ibuprofen these days, and can finally sleep on any side of my body comfortably. Before, I was limited to sleeping on my stomach because of the intensity of the pressure in the chest.

Hope you find some relief.

I felt half decent when I woke up this morning, now since breakfast, my left side is totally weird--hand and arm feel weak and numb, side of my face is tingly, and the air hunger is coming back.

I swear, this is how I felt before I started treatment 2 years ago. What, did I get bit again without knowing it?

Stupid disease.

I have the same thing. I usually wake up ok, and by the evening I feel awful. I take most of my meds after dinner, so I know it's not that. I just started Mepron for babs, and I'm hoping that makes the difference in air hunger. I also have dull pain where my ribs attach.

--------------------
Lyme, Bart, possible Babs
Currently on IV Doxy, Bactrim, Zithromax, Nystatin, Mepron
Been on nearly every antibiotic since 10/09

About 60% improvement. Dizziness, air hunger remain.
