I am suppose to start factive for bart, one week per month, is this a safe drug compared to levinquin, I know it's fairly new but in the same family. Why do you take it just one week per month? Is is effective against bart the same way as levinquin is, does it have the same side affects, tendon issues, qt interval issues. Has anyone has any success with it and how long have you been on it? thanks Diana

First dose within 3 hours had red hot rash all over. Took a good week to go away.
Just be on the watch.

I took if for four months, daily. I had no side effects and I believe it was helpful. You need to monitor carefully, as with all medications. Kris

I thought that Factive was very easy to tolerate. I felt better on it and took it for several months. I eventually hit a plateau and my doctor switched me to a different med.
Factive and Levaquin are in the same drug class. They have the same risks including tendon issues and prolonged QT interval.
