The antibodies to Hashimotos is of unknown origin.
I do believe it is viral. So on that note you may want to do some research to find some virus' fighting alternatives you can try.
Doc's offer no treatment. Because they can't find the cause.
I use coconut oil, and on 2000 of Vitamin C and 1000 of E.
Virus' don't do well in an acid environment. And we have reports of HIV'ers having great success with the CC. oil...
Since you haven't started treatment yet--I would ramp up slow on all...It can be very powerful.
Prayers for a easy road...

Hubby had elevated thyroid antibodies at one point -- don't remember the exact test result. But when retested several months later they were normal.
So I would not give up hope that this may correct itself.
You may want to research the herb bugleweed. It might be helpful.

The key to Hashi's is getting what ever is causing it under control before it totally destroys the gland...Then you will take hormone all your life.
