Over a year ago I started treating my Lyme. Im stage 4 (or so they say) I did Biaxin 1000mg and plaquenil 400mg/ day. TThe treatment was AWFUL. I did it for about 6 months then couldn't take it anymore... I was OK for a bit after but now feel like my symptoms are coming back ten fold... After 6 months of treatment then stopping cold turkey what kind of damage have I done? 1 major issue I have now is my heart, I went in for routine surgery to almost die. My heart stopped 3 times during suregery... I was given epinepherine to get me back but I feel like I'm being reinvaded by this stupid disease! Any thoughts?

Get a good LLMD ASAP! You need to get back into treatment. 6 months is not enough.Yes-- It is awful...for all of us. There isnt really an answer, to what type of damage you've done.

All you really can do is take this seriously, and get a good Dr who can understand your heart and Lyme treatments. I woudlnt mess around with this.

I totally agree! I had to take 6 months off of treatment because of poor liver function and my Lyme came back ticked off! No pun intended.

It has been much more difficult to tolerate the antibiotics this time around. My herxing is worse and I'm completely wiped out. I even started having seizures because of the Lyme moving to my brain. It feels as if I gave the bacteria a new lease on life in my body.

Get back on treatment! Maybe you'll just have to be less aggressive but do for a bit longer so you can tolerate the meds and not compromise the effectiveness of treatment. Good luck!

Blessings to you!

I don't think you've done any damage .. but you need to get back into treatment. Slow and steady wins the race!!

Get started on magnesium citrate and CoQ10, that should help your heart. There are plenty of herbal options as well if you want to go that route..

My LLMD said that you can make the bugs come back stronger by starting/stopping.

I am doing very well on a herbal formula by Healthy Directions, anybody have the new name of the company since they changed names? Perhaps this is an alternative, if it interests you. Or a good complimentary therapy. For myself, I have decided to do the herbals until they no longer do the job (maybe they will all along, who knows? We'll see) and then to do abx to finish the last run. That's at least my plan, for me. I can advise nobody else. I am not a doctor.

Read Buhner, it would seem that the chances of getting well and staying well are greatly enhanced by the herbs alongside abx because some of them aid the transmission of abx to the skin, joints, heart...exactly where they ordinarily do not reach and where the bugs hide out.

As for heart issues, yes I have seen alot of people do really well with hawthorne and ginkgo mixed together. Motherwort too (bitter, use capsules), plus coenzyme Q10, magnesium, potassium.

Some formulas blend all of these together so you don't have to go to the expense of buying each one separately. Plus your body has to break down the capsules/tablets and that means less benefit if you have too many of them in one handful. It's much better to have all combined in one formula, if possible.

You could do a search on www.iherb.com or www.vitacost.com to see what comes up. Read here about the herbs, supplements themselves: www.healthy.net

The above is for adjunct support, not to replace any needed medical therapy. Always ask your doctor or tell him/her about supplements you are taking, to help him/her have more accurate diagnostic pictures and to rule out drug-herb-nutrient interactions.

Thanks everyone. I've been fully in denial over the last year. I have been trying to pretend I didn't need to go baack on treatment for the Lyme, but with my heart conditions at my age (Under 35) and kids etc.. I have to start taking it serious again..

I like most or all of you still have the financial issue to contend with. I recently got divorced etc.. and have had no health ins. I just recently picked up temporary ins, but have been laid off as well so... financially its tough.
I guess I will just contact the list of doctors that was PM'ed to me, (thank you penguingirl) and go from there....
