I have read that it is dangerous to do a heavy metal detox before your amalgams are out. Or before you have done AI, per GiGi. I have been using Chlorella and Selectrolytes and still have amalgams. Am I hurting myself?

Touchy subject
Some believe that the almagams (after considerable time, yrs) actually stop leaching mercury into the system.
I don't think you can go wrong with gentle detox (having binders on board)

I thought, but don't know for sure, that chlorella is a binder, and if it is, I would think it would help. There is also zeolite that binds metals.
I wouldn't use anything that chelates though.

Yes - that's "gentle"
If you take herbs take them with that electrolyte mix.
take chlorella away from all of it, before a meal

The herbs I take are milk thistle, gotu kola, ginko, olive leaf extract, tumeric and vinpocotene.
So I should take these away from other supplements?

Most important is to replenish the "essential mineral" base which is deficient in most of us who end up with Lyme.
You can take a Doctor's Data hairtest ($46) and get an idea of where you stand. Blood tests are inconclusive. I have explained the interpretation of the hairtest a couple of times on this board.
Selectrolytes are trace minerals that are important. But Essential Minerals are even more important because you cannot detox without them if absent or out of balance.
That test will also show you if you are releasing any toxic metals or whether your body is simply holding on to them keeping you ill. That is the case with most people who have dysregulations (aka allergies - see Allergie Immun) and KPU.
Do not use mobilizing agents (DMPS, DMSA, Cilantro) when still amalgam in the mouth. Only use chlorella until all amalgams removed.
Chlorella does not remove lead from the bones nor mercury from the brain. That takes a different approach, but most of all as a starter a good "essential mineral" base and release of allergies to metals (Allergie Immun).

GiGi thanks so much. I was on the Core but became anemic, so I backed off. I know from reading your threads that AI is the first step. I appreciate your advise.
Should I stay on the core and just stay on the iron (blood builder) I just went back to work 2 weeks ago and feel okay. I really need to replenish my bank account right now. I must be ok to work so I am afraid to do anything that would put me back in a bad place.
The Doctor's Data hairtest is something I will look into today. Do you have any recommendations on an essential mineral supp?
