So I just tested positive for bart, and Ehrlichia. I was starting treatment anyway, but when i asked my doctor how long the treatment was she said usually 1 month.
I've had this for 3yrs and the treatment is 1 month. Somehow i'm not so sure.
I'm on rifampin, working my way up to 600mg, and doxy, 300mg. How long can people take these for, and do you think it will work?

To people with good immunity 2 months usually on meds mention above works. To other people 6 months and to some many years on treatment with diferent meds.So it depends on your body.

Those doses of medication are correct, so see how you feel during the next two to three weeks. If your doctor doesn't treat long-term and you still feel you need further treatment then you'll be able to go see a Lyme Literate physician who is willing to treat tick-born infections for a longer period.
It might be wise to ask the doctor what you should do if you still feel sick when the 1 month of therapy passes. If the doctor says "Then you'd be sick with something else" -- that's not an appropriate answer unless he/she is willing to investigate further, especially tick-born infections, since you obviously were bitten by a tick and it may have passed something else on to you, like Babesia, Relapsing Fever, Q-Fever, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Tularemia (which should resolve with Doxycycline, but....who knows totally).

From previous posts it sounds like you consulted with an ILADS LLMD and have been diagnosed with lyme disease. It can take longer to get rid of co-infections, especially bart when you have lyme disease. If you are seeing a good LLMD then you are in good hands. If you aren't with an ILADS LLMD, I'd get with one ASAP.

I agree with TerryK, get with an LLMD ASAP, if you are not currently with one.
I seriously doubt that 1 month treatment is long enough for someone that has been ill for 3 years. Its just not that likely; but of course I wish you to have that kind of luck. I hope you are one of the few that get well quickly.

Maybe Ehrlichia can clear that fast, but not bartonelliosis!
What test was run, where, for Bartonella spp? What species were you shown to have?
That's the craziest thing I've ever heard. Did I miss something here??

Asking about what happens if you are not well in a month is a good idea. If they say steroids... run. They did that to my son and he got 10X worse in one week. Doctors who try to treat TBD without TRUE knowledge do more harm than good.
Get on a waiting list for an LLMD now. Unfortunately you will have to travel as there are none in the Capital Region. I can suggest an ND a little north of you. PM me if you want suggestions. I am not far from you.

I don't know what species I have. I'm seeing someone who calls herself a LLMD. She did say she doesn't know that much about co-infections.
I just did a month of Mepron and Biaxin, and when I stopped I felt a lot worse then I did when I started. Doesn't that mean that I probably didn't treat long enough.
I think I should do another 3 months minimun of mepron, but can your body handle all these meds at the same time?

Doesn't sound like she is ILADS trained or perhaps she is new? I'd ask if she is a member of ILADS and how long/how many has she treated.
You did NOT get enough mepron. Babesia lives in the red blood cell. According to Dr. S's babesia book, you need to treat for at least 4 months because that is the life of the red blood cell. That makes a lot of sense to me.
I was on mepron for a lot longer than 4 months and then on malarone for even longer and I see a seasoned ILADS doctor who mentors for new ILADS doctors so I don't think that is unusual treatment.
I'd consider getting someone more experienced unless you want to learn a lot about TBI's and she is open to listening and learning AND doing what is necessary to get you well.

Then she's NOT a good LLMD. No way.

If she doesn't know that much about coinfections, start looking now for a doc with more knowledge.
It takes a lot of expertise and years of treating this disease to know how to get rid of it for someone. This doc is letting you know that she doesn't know enough to cure you.
Coinfections are part of lyme treatment, so she doesn't know much about lyme treatment.
