Hi!

My son has just tested positive for a MTHFR mutation and a COMT polymorphism. From what I understand, with the COMT issue he should not be having quercitin.

The nutritionist that we are seeing for this suggested that he stay away mainly from apples, onions and garlic.

I'm having a terrible time finding recipes without onion and/or garlic. Wondering if anyone knows of a cookbook or website with information on this type of diet?

Have been using lemon and olive oil, but I need some fresh ideas. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Karen

Could you just leave those ingredients out of the recipes when you make them?

Sixgoofykids: This is a problem with his methylation pathway. Probably one of the reasons that he has not gotten better is that he is unable to detox, so even though we have addressed yeast, parasites, heavy metals, etc., he can't get them out.

17hens: I have been leaving them out, but that leaves out a lot of flavor as well. I'm a pretty basic cook, not particularly creative. I need recipes, can't just throw things together -- I wish I could.

I'm just hoping that someone out there is dealing with this same issue and has some ideas.

Thanks,
Karen
