I recently purchased this for a reasonably low price. I was wondering what you might know about it in more depth, and if anyone has experience with it for sleep?

- Start with very tiny doses, late in the evening. About 1/16 of a teaspoon or less.
Now my reactions are likely rare but, for me, this is so disappointing.
Yes, it was very calming for me - but too much so that I was drugged for a day or two, so sleepy. For myself, I tried it several times - over time - when nothing else would work to reduce seizures.
But, I had the same bad reactions to it as I had from neurontin (a similar Rx, as well as other anti-seizure meds). Too dazed, extreme vertigo, muscle weakness to the point of falling - and bladder failure. Seizures threshold was also lowered (and, technically, that is NOT supposed to happen).
My (regular) ND returned from a conference last year and said that she'd heard other NDs report that a few of their (more complex) patients had the same experience. There were no further details but at least that was some validation that others reported the same. I'd never heard of anyone else having trouble with it.
If you've taken neurontin or lyrica and done okay, you will likely do okay with GABA. Technically, it is supposed to help calm the overexcited NMDA nerve receptor that go haywire from the toxicity of lyme.
I still find higher doses of magnesium to be much more effective in my case.
But, I still go back to the information in technical reports that say GABA is just what I should need. Well, I just have to do that differently, then. I do hope this works for you. Just remember: tiny, tiny doses at first - and not during the day or before driving as it's very calming, fairly fast.
For sleep, I like Milk Oat Seed much better. or Holy Basil (Tulsi) . . . and Scullcap tincture, too.
And since I've been on andrographis, I sleep like a rock. I still tend to stay up far too late (too tired to move to get ready for bed, etc.), though, but once my head hits the pillow, it's truly lights out for at least 6 hours straight, sometimes longer.
Andrographis is also the very thing that has helped lessen seizures for me. As it is an herb with sedative action, it does make me a bit more tired during the day but I have so many other benefits from it. Gotu Kola helps to balance it during the day.
But andrographis is not for everyone. A few have had opposite reactions to it from mine. It's just the very best thing I've ever used for so many reasons. -
