My BMI is 16% right now. I lost almost 25lbs after I was bitten, and I was thin to begin with. Staying on a strict Lyme friendly diet doesn't help with weight gain, either!

I wish.

At first I lost 20 pounds from the acute illness, but then when the lethargy set in month after month, year after year, I gained it back plus 20 more :/

If you're eating a lot and not gaining, you might want to treat parasites. I was eating tons of calories and had a major parasite problem. Once they were treated, I felt a lot better, ate less, and gained weight.

Tests aren't very good for parasites. My testing came out negative, but when I took herbs for parasites I saw a tapeworm and roundworms. I had stool testing, an upper endoscopy, and a colonoscopy and no testing showed any indication of parasites.

I have problems with my thyroid too but i don't gain any weight. What ****es me of is that i can watch my arms going to be a skeleton and no doctor has an idea [dizzy]

Help!

I quit smoking when I was diagnosed and my BMI was extremely low and I have only gained 2 lbs. I am just not hungry and food does not appeal to me. I have never been a big eater but every time I would quit smoking I would gain at least 10 pounds which I was trying this time.
The doc says we have to give up sugar, why is that? I like my sugar, holy heck! I am only 102 pounds, the lowest I hit was 99. Giving up sugar is really not going to help the weight gain. I also was fighting with IBS,always the diarrhea, to the point where I could not leave the house. Doc gave me GHI Opticleanse and of course probotics....What a help that stuff was. Expensive but worth every penny! Hope that helps someone that has the same problem as me. Now It's been about 3 and a half months of treatment and I am up every hour urinating and in joint pain/stiffness, is any one else going through this, it is so hard to get moving.

kerry... if you continue eating sugar you WILL end up with a yeast/candida problem. Be sure to take tons of probiotics.

Also.. sugar feeds the keets! (spirochetes)

I tried "Nestle Module IBD" which is something that people with crohn get. But it contains so much sugar. Not good.

I think, the fat does not get absorbed or something like that. I had times where i ate more than anyone in the family and i still lost weight. I added extra fats to every meal, it was still a joke.
It's like it's running through me.

You asked how to test for parasites... Take something for the parasites. The first thing I tried was an Artemesinin, Black Walnut and clove combo capsule I bought at a health store.

The proof will be in the toilet. Look for small white dots... that was the first thing I saw. I won't go into more detail, but you can see for yourself here: http://www.lymephotos.com

I am doing the salt/c now and still seeing plenty of proof.

Six, what herbs did you take for parasites? Can you take them with abx? By parasites does this include things like babesia, or are you specifically referring to intenstinal parasites and worms?

My BMI falls betw 17.5-18.2. I have a hard time gaining weight as well, and this girl can eat!!

I've heard six say she took Humaworm. Not sure if she took anything else. I know she said once that she did not know about Parastroy when she was treating or she would have tried that.

I am sure she will chime in...

momlyme, is Parastroy what you took? Can you take while on abx? What if you work during the day... does it make you run to the bathroom regularly?

Thanks!

The first 2 times I did a wormwood, black walnut & clove Intestinal Cleanse from eclectic institute.

For the past 2 days I have been doing salt/c + I added Parastroy today.

I would check with your LLMD. My son's LLMD ok'd the parasite cleanse herbs when my son was on some abx... she said no when he was on Mepron. I would think it would make a big difference from person to person-- probably from LLMD to LLMD too.

I would wait until I had some time off to try it... the first time I did the herbs, I felt really sick. I didn't feel as sick on the salt/c... but what I am going through now, I would not want to do in a public bathroom. Today, I was in there quite a bit. Thank goodness we have a ceiling fan.

You asked, "does it make you run to the bathroom regularly?"

A bit of humor on a not so humorous subject...

No, it makes you go to the bathroom irregularly. What I have seen, I would not consider regular. [dizzy]
