How long does it take to herx? How long it took you? What symptoms did you experience?

I felt brain foggish the first 2 weeks I took it pulsed t/w/thur. After that I felt nothing for another 21/2 months when the brain fogg became more consistent. I felt it was becoming neurotoxic and stopped. I've been off for over a month now and feel good.

I am now treating again with flagyl 1000mg daily. I think it's one of the worst evil antibiotics I ever took. Having said that it definitely made me turn the corner three years ago in my initial attempt at treating lyme.
It kills a lot in the body. Probably good and bad bacteria. I am suffering through it right now and hoping I can do it every day for the next four months as planned with my LLMD.
Previously I could only tolerate two weeks on two off. I found it really made me depressed and down.

I am taking flagyl right now and I can't get past 1/2 of a 250mg tablet. It gives me the worst headaches I have ever had. I don't want to give up, but this pain in my head is absolutely horrible. It hurts from my teeth all the way through my brain. Even hydromorphone and oxymorphone don't touch this pain!

Flagyl made me feel like I had been taken to the edge of hell. I ended up pulsing it and lowering the doseage. It can be wicked with some and others tolerate it okay.

I got herxes from it even at a low dose, after a few days. But I herx a lot anyway--each person is different. Also at first it really did bring on some depression.
After a couple weeks of 1/2 tab 3 times a day (total of 375mg) I really started to improve--felt better than I have since starting treatment 9 months ago. Brain clearer, energy better, other symptoms better. I'm still getting herxes every 7 or 8 days but very mild ones.
My LLMD told me it's fine to stay at a lower dose in order to prevent the herxes. Eventually, I should be able to increase the dose gradually but there's no rush.
