That's a pretty strong argument for butter!!
Couple questions - I think it's better to have pasteurized butter for the reason that raw butter means raw milk means cows could be bitten by ticks and be sick and have spirochetes in their raw fluids?
And I guess the baddie, margarine, has been created for the purpose of longer shelflife?

The one part of the blurb written by the LA Times is one part of the article that is accurate:
"[Whereas] long-term antibiotic therapy found it can cause serious, even life-threatening problems. In one study, one-fourth of the patients suffered severe problems linked to the treatment, including blood clots, infection and the loss of a gallbladder.�
I think the evidence bears that out here on lymenet. Lots of people here have lost their gallbladder. Interesting.

Thou it seems rocephin is the primary ABX responsible for gallbladder problems. I did it for 6 weeks.
Once I found out about the gallbladder problems, I refused that ABX and did others that were not as closely associated with gallbladder issues. I did tons of ABX both oral and IV and thankfully I still have my gallbladder and my life.

I'd rather not lose either my gallbladder or life. I'm not anti-abx, but they don't work for everyone, just like herbal remedies don't work for everyone. Everyone has to find what works for them and go with it. For me it was Dr. J's protocol in KS which is all spelled out on my thread on the Hansa Center.
I have seen people get better on abx and seen them get worse on them, same with herbal remedies. Like I said, everyone has to make their own choices and go with what they feel works best for them. The remedy I chose is getting me better and I feel it probably saved my life.

I am a farmer and drink raw milk and eat BUTTER! It is better for you and a wonderful cookbook read is "Nourishing Traditions" The cookbook that challenges Politically correct nutrition and the diet dictocrats....revised second edition by Sally Fallon and Mary G. Enig, Ph.D. The fats are good for the brain and all is explained along with mention of weston price.
AND I was CRAVING meat, especially fatty and raw whole milk this past month...I would have a swiss mushroom brat, just a half of one heated up with a glass of milk after my doxy and metronidazole doses and it was the only thing that kept me from being nauseous. I mentioned it to my friend and she said...well DUH....it has calcium, protein and fat which my body needs at this point. So I am feeling better when I eat meat, fat and all. Drink my milk whole and butter only the toast I have with 2 eggs every morning with that half a brat! During the day I graze on fresh veggies or fruit and hit the meat at supper. No potatoes, tomatoes, or anything in the nightshade family, as my acupuncturist says that is a big no no for my body, and very little bread. I just found out wheat bread is NOT WHOLE wheat unless it says so! So all the wheat bread is closer to the white stuff in the store nutrition wise. I have really backed off sugar big time as well as no pop or booze. I do drink cherry juice as that helps with my pain and joints.
Hope you find your "happy" place in the food chain....I am slowly finding mine!

Lyme itself can cause gallbladder problems, not only antibiotic treatment. I had to have mine removed [it had become diseased] before I started on antibiotics.

tartana, when taking Doxy you are supposed to avoid dairy products for two hours after taking it or it will not be absorbed properly. Sorry!

No, I'm not cured or in remission yet. Overall, I'm about 75% better with some really great days and a few really not so great days. Main symptoms is still left side abdominal pain.
Sometimes I still have TIA symptoms that come and go. But compared to where I was last year I'm doing much better. I do hope to get better but right now I feel I've plateaued. Hopefully, in time I'll make some more progress.
One thing that really helps me a lot is doing three detox baths a week. Without those I'd probably not be doing as good as I'm doing. Detox makes a world of difference for me. Hydrogen Peroxide and Epsom Salts.
