Me. You might want to research bile acid reflux or bile reflux. I'm not sure I have it but am wondering.

I do not have an official lyme diagnosis yet but I have been diagnosed with gastritis due to overproduction of acid!

vdean, did anti acids help you? They did not help me, and made my headaches worse...

shahbah,
My dr. had put me on prescription dexilant which pretty much cleared my problems up. Now I am on over the counter prilosec which seems to be doing the trick( cause dexilant is so expensive). So yes these meds have seemed to work for me. But without them, water gives me heartburn! I have been told that tums and rolaids can make your acid production worse! So be careful with those.
Good Luck,
vdean

I started using antacids and Prilosec when first diagnosed but they had no effect. It was probiotics that finally did the trick, probably a sign that it was caused by Lyme/Bart bacteria instead of over-production of acid. I would recommend testing probiotics to anyone who has gastritis.

I have chronic gastritis as well. I am still not sure if its from bart as my bart lab (from quest) is negative.

However, be careful with PPIs (like prilosec).. I have osteoporosis at 25 and I have read that they can cause this. I would just talk to your doc about it since I dont actually KNOW for a fact.

Yes. I have. And ulcers as well.

I did PPIs for a while and then realized they weren't helping me that much. I still had pain in my gut when I woke up first thing in the morning and it continued on and off all day.

One thing that seemed to help me was treating Babesia. It's better now, and I stopped PPIs about two months into treatment. I haven't been taking any PPIs since.

Changing to a low acid diet helped, as well as eating yogurt with lots of live probiotics.

I have heard people have success with DGL - special licorice capsules that have the component removed that causes high blood pressure in some people. I recommend talking to a doctor about DGL first before trying it as it can interfere with some medications and preexisting conditions.

Babesiosis can cause GERD, heartburn, problems swallowing, and inflammation that could lead to esophageal cancer if left uncontrolled.

Bartonellosis can cause many GI problems. Esp common are IBS, colitis, and Crohn's disease diagnoses which are just symptoms of CLD.

Diverticulosis and endometriosis are often diagnosed by ducks while Lyme Bb and coinfections run rampant.

ILADS LLMD Dr F in NJ focuses on ped GI and family nutrition. He's done research on bartonellosis impacting GI health.

(Note there are at least two Dr F treating Lyme in NJ, and one is NOT an ILADS member. The non-ILADS Dr F doesn't recognize babesiosis and continues to diagnose "CFS" instead of CLD.)

Please see
ILADS-active LLMD Dr F website with research papers and links to videos

This ILADS LLMD Dr F of NJ also posts videos with pics, and short info videos on nutrition.

Are you tested for helicobacter pylori?
About the same symptoms as babesia.

karenl, et al.
H. pylori is considered a co-infection in the Lyme Disease Complex. In CLD, Babesia protozoans play a major role in continuing dis-ease.

I haven't consented to a test for H. pylori because GERD symptoms are controlled with appropriate diet & ADL choices.

On page 2 of the LDA's excellent brochure, "The ABC's of Lyme Disease," ILADS-active LLMD Dr F of NJ writes a valuable piece on Lyme in the GI tract:

http://www.lymediseaseassociation.org/images/NewDirectory/Resources/LDA_Brochures/ABC_2009.pdf

Some symptoms ducks attribute to H. pylori may actually be symptoms of neuroborreliosis, babesiosis, and/or bartonellosis. The vast majority of GI ducks in the USA cannot find evidence of these epidemic infections because they're so brainwashed by the IDSA, big pharma and corrupt media they don't even acknowledge the pathogens at all. As if H. pylori would be the only pathogen in the gut!

A GI duck literally laughed at me for suggesting I may have contracted a Bartonella infection like my friend (with three dogs!) came down with after we hiked together and attracted attached ticks (again). That GI duck never even heard of Bartonella and couldn't spell it. I did not follow his advice, did what I thought best, and got much better, all without becoming dependent upon the free samples of PPI he tried to give me, again.

p.s. - The LDA offers brochures for free. You can print from the web, but best to order some to keep handy in your car/ purse/ backpack/ tote/ diaper bag, etc. Thousands of people need this info! We can each become a life-saver for another CLD sufferer.
