Too much water cut back. You'll be washing out electrolytes also.

That is a reasonable amount. I drink at least that much. Many people are dehydrated and don't know it.
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/water/NU00283 "Dietary recommendations. The Institute of Medicine advises that men consume roughly 3 liters (about 13 cups) of total beverages a day and women consume 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total beverages a day"
One can drink too much water but I don't think 2 quarts is too much.
There is a very good book about water called "Your Body's many cries for Water". You will understand the importance of water by reading that book.
If you rarely or never get thirsty you are very likely dehydrated and your body has given up asking for water. That was the case for me years ago. I get thirsty now that I drink adequate water.

You should drink roughly 1/2 your body weight in ounces (water) each day.
If you will drink small amounts at a time, your body will use it as you go along .. if you drink a whole glass of water at once, you'll be more likely to head to the bathroom more often.
