I see this topic has been discussed quite bit here in the past. I see that there is a concern that high does A may warrant at least a monitoring of testosterone levels. I also saw the studies that showed nearly half of english women did not convert beta carotene to A effectively.
I am also aware that the connection between vitamin A and Vitamin D levels.
Dr Cannell , who seems to be the focus of the anti high dose A people, seems to indicate that high does A, especially in the cod liver oil retinol form, has only been shown to be dangerous in cases with a cooresponding lack of Vitamin D.
Cannell goes further claiming there is a self regulating system that naturally optimizes A and D levels and ratios.
I am not clear if there is actual evidence for this beyond the cliam that you will only get higher levels with supplementation, and therefore natural is defined as supplement free
The Weston Price folks are well known for their stance that cod liver oil supplementation is integral for optimum health.
Any thoughts?
