Well I kind of have had weird results on doxy I started one pill twice a day and really felt good for a week... I then bump it up to 200 mg 2x a day and felt just over ruined by the drug...

I then had the flu and had to work... And then going to work on Monday I slipped and fell on the ice and bruised my ribs pretty good... so its been hard to see what the doxy is doing... Just refilled my script and wondering how long most you stay on it?

I've been on Doxy for over a year now. That is after taking various other antibiotics over a year prior to starting Doxy. I have seen my most improvement on Doxy. It is a long term antibiotic.

Did 6 weeks originally, then switched to Biaxin / Amantadine last summer so I could be "free from the sun."

restarted on January 1 and will be on it for months.

My lyme neurologist says new research out of Europe indicates it penetrates the Brain BLood Barrier as well as IV abx. I'm proof of that as my Brain MRI has returned to normal.

On 200 mg since five months. It helps me feel better, and I can be in the sun for 30 minutes.
In the beginning you need to avoid the sun till your load of germs is less.

I've been taking Doxy for nearly a month now (working up to the 200 mg 2X/day dose). My LLMD indicates that I will be on Doxy for many months, adding in other abx and herbal protocols. I noticed many symptom exacerbations after getting to the full dose -- knees hurt more, other crackly parts of my body now hurt too. I think it takes a long time for the drug to actually do its thing.

In any event, it is quite hard on the stomach (I had to skip a dose yesterday), even when taken in the middle of a meal (which does limit the gut impact, but also lessens the efficacy).

BCB, great to hear that information about the BBB, as my LLMD believes that I'll need about 3 months of IV to get at the brain issues -- I would love to avoid that scary prospect (though the gut impact might be less).
