i hear differently on taking probiotics,i know with antibiotics you should always take them, but how about with a yeast infection or parasite treament.on those two i read that the probiotics can feed the yeast or parasites and wait till after treatment.i am not sure about feeding them because i got the yeast and parasites without being on probiotics to begin with so i am thinking whether there are probiotics or not they are feeding on something in our system?

Not sure what you said but....

You MUST take PRObiotics if you are taking ANTIbiotics.

Otherwise you WILL get yeast. Yeast can be a really really bad thing to have and VERY hard to get rid of.

It sounds like you are questioning whether or not the probiotics gave rise to the candida or parisites. The answer is NO. The reason probiotics often interefere with candida and parasite treatment, from my understanding, is because they often contain FOS or other "prebiotics" (a glucose-like "feed") designed to nourish the probiotic flora once they're in your gut. Unfortunately this "prebiotic-feed" also acts as food for other organisims, including yeasts and parasites.

Addidional info: The secret to favoring good flora vs. bad flora is intestinal pH. Good flora survive in slightly acidic conditions of 5.5 - 5.8 pH (acidic colon = alkaline body); including apple cider vinegar, lemon water, and fiber help create this environment. On the other hand, candida survive in a much higher alkali pH condition (alkali colon = acidic body); higher alkali pH's occur with diets high in gluten, sugar, dairy, and meat. Though, the first 3 have few beneficial health effects, do not eliminate meat, as the story goes, the protein is important for maintaining a healthy pH.

thanks cedarwidow for making that understandable,i am sorry but having the foggy head stuff alot.thanks for the input guys.i am worried that the probioitcs feed parasites and yeast.when you mention good flora surving in slightly acid does that mean i can still have a cup of coffee??

coffee .. Just don't drink 5 cups!! [Razz]

Probiotics are your only protection AGAINST yeast. And if FOS is a problem for you (I don't care for it.) then buy brands that don't have it.

These do not contain FOS ..

Excellent probiotics:
