I have had a PICC line since 7/08, but was not given it for abx initially...

My PICC has kept me alive; I need it due to severe GI tract problems...so yes, my PICC has been helpful.

I do better when I'm on IV abx via PICC. Tried oral and just didn't feel like they did enough (may be due to malabsorption issues...).

I've never been on Rocephin, though...

I had a PICC for 4 months w/ Tigecyl IV.
Rocephen, - id 5 wks years ago but it didn't do anything but give me gall bladder sludge stones.

I felt (Lyme) better after first monnth of Tigecyl...It is a tough drug though. Not many can tolerate it at full dose of 50mg 2X day.

I would have done it more but got blood clot in PICC arm.

Since Tigecyl,I've been off all Lyme treatment for just about 2 yrs.

Rocephin didn't do so much for me, but I wasn't taking a cyst buster along with it. For me, IM Bicillin was really powerful....

dmc-are you in remission?

I've had a PICC for exactly one year. I'm done two treatments, IV levaquin and rifampin for bart and IV vancomycin for lyme. I've made great strides with it.

I also made a lot of progress with orals. Now, babesia is keeping me sick so I still have my PICC but not currently using it.

It you have the opportunity to get a PICC...I highly recommend it.

Hi,

My son (20) has had a picc since 4/10...did 4 months rocephrin but it didn't help at all, got worse, on doxy 400 ml a day since 8/10...we think he's has improved, very little. Did take a multiple of orals before using IV and did nothing. We do think the PICC is better.
Good Luck

Had PICC line back in 2005.

Did Doxy - I'm allergic to Rocephin.

Had to have the line pulled at 8 weeks due to infection in the line that ended up septic so hard to say if it helped.

I would say short term yes felt great for about 6 months then relapsed.

Been off and on orals ever since and been doing pretty good with doxy and biaxin combo.
