Hi All,
No I am not pregnant and I dont plan to become pregnant at least for 3 more years at least. I am only 24!
ANYWAYS, I started treatment just a month ago, they believe they got it realtively early. I am treating lyme and bartonella.
When lyme is brought under control by my immune system and when I do decide to become pregnant do I need to still take abx during pregnancy if lyme is under control?

Yes, absolutely.Your husband might want to be on antibiotics too while you're conceiving (perhaps having started 4 days before, as Dr. B says that's how long it take for them to build up to levls where they can kill Bb.)

If you have had a course of treatment and there has been no recurrance of symptoms it is safe to have children.
However you can get some tests done to see if there is active infection using the Western blot IgM and IgG,Cd57+,LTT Melisa, Urinary kDa testing and a clinical examination. Many of my treated patients have had normal deliveries and normal tests after delivery.
When I questioned further about breastfeeding, I got this response:
Using clinical findings and lab tests as being negative I would avoid the antibiotics as much as possible. If there are any clinical or lab tests suggesting active disease I would use a lower dose of antibiotic.
Ceftin or amoxicillin can be used if there are no counter indications to their use. Breast feeding is again is a judgement call depending on clinical and lab findings
