I've been taking D-Mannose for my bladder .. to help keep infections at bay. I really need something to help with that!!
BUT... I think it may be contributing to my yeast issues.
It IS what they call a simple sugar, like glucose.
Does anyone know about this?? My GP didn't think it would cause problems, but when I began taking d-mannose in powder form I got what we think is yeast in my esophagus.
(not sure if that was a coincidence or not since it feels like severe acid reflux and could BE acid reflux)
I go for a scope on Tuesday.

I've taken D-Mannose for bladder issues for years (not regularly, just when bladder issues flare). I am not sure if yeast can digest this sugar -- people cannot, but gram-negative bacteria can bind to it (so perhaps that means they can digest it?). This may be the same for yeast.
In any event, I've not had an issue -- but I take the capsules, which perhaps allows the sugar to release in the intestine rather than in the stomach? Not sure if that makes a difference.
With regard to yeast, what makes you think that you have yeast in the esophagus? Do you have a white tongue or back of throat?

Bladder problems are very often cpn. D-mannose is not treating the problem. cpnhelp.org

I have Interstitial Cystitis and no symptoms of CPN that I know of. Thanks, though!
The IC makes me prone to infection.

Systemic candidas/fungi/mold thrive creating more and more neurotoxins (because they also live and die and pee and poo) as long as heavy metals reside anyplace in the body. Heavy metal toxicity is part of our live today, especially after amalgam removal was not followed by a successful heavy metal detox. Most people taking the Allergie Immun test find out that they are allergic to mucor/fungi, etc. and the body is not responding defensively any longer; the same with toxic metals. The immune system has turned blind against these toxins. AI fixes it.

My GP said it wouldn't but I just didn't know how much he knew about it .. and yeast. He does recognize and treat yeast.. but I still wasn't confident.
My doubt came when I realized that my esophagus problems began 24 hrs after first taking the powder form of D-M.. I had always used the pill form prior to that.

--editing -- thanks for the first link too. I breezed thru it but couldn't find the info on yeast. So glad you posted the second one.

I've taken D-Mannose a number of times when I had a bladder or UTI infection and every time it cleared it up. My urologist was surprised when I got retested that it was cleared up without abx that he prescribed to me.
It's a great product and is very effective for me.

GiGi, so helpful! Thanks for posting. Might you know if D-Mannose also binds good bacteria, so that it might counteract taking a probiotic? The web link suggests that it may.

I know that one time I got a pill stuck in my esophagus and did not know it. It started to make an ulcer and was quite painful--could that be the cause of your esophageal pain?

Here is a quote from the link:

I agree that the quote you posted is ambiguous. I would take probiotics several hours away from your D-Mannose just to be safe.
I had severe pain at the bottom of my esophagus when I did not know I had a pill stuck. Had to have an endoscope and it showed an image of where the pill was forming the ulcer. I drink lots of liquid with my pills now!
I will say that I used to get a lot of acid reflux, but I don't anymore. I don't know if it is due to the Lyme being gone or the gut being healed or allergie-immun or the energy healer, but I am happy about it!
