Sorry guys to disagree, but I was always taught it was the left side.

Here's why: The colo-rectal tube does not go straight up from your anus. It makes a 90 degree turn to the left and then goes up the left side of the body.

Then it crosses over and goes down the right side of the body. It you started on your right side, the water could not go beyond the first few inches.

glm111,

You're right! It's correct that it's left! I mixed it up. Apologies!

Depends on what your intent is right?

If coffee enema is for liver detox as oppose to colon cleane - i would think the right side would be best for CE.

So confusing lol

"To administer an enema solution, the clinician should have the patient lie down on the left side, knees bent."

Left!

The instructions I read say to lay on your right side, because that's where the liver and gall bladder are.

As far as the coffee not flowing uphill, I had no problem making it do that.

I laid on my right side and was able to release almost a whole quart into my colon once (I know I'm only supposed to release half that much, I was just experimenting).

But I didn't have any trouble getting the coffee to flow past the bend in the pipe. As long as that enema bag is suspended up high, and your body is a few feet lower, that coffee will go anywhere you want.

The information I had read on coffee enemas said right side. I think it is because you're not supposed to encourage a high enema.

I would sometimes move to my back or left side if I was uncomfortable.

I found that there was so much debate on right to left that it had to be one of those arguments that had no definitive answer. I used right side.

I do the whole quart at once. In the beginning, it's easier to do half at a time.

Emptying my mailbox now .... have been playing in Vegas, LOL.

I'll solve the problem. Start on your right, go to your left, then lay on you back. All bases covered. [Wink] By the way, I've done that a couple times and it works fine for me.

Yeah, Gary, I've been known to move around. Especially if it gets uncomfortable.
