Please help me. I am freaking out right now. Last night, I saw a black spot on my thigh.
I squeezed the heck out of it thinking it was a blackhead.
It was tiny and I didn't even consider that it might be a nymph tick, but in hindsite, I remembered that I had been in the woods about 3 days prior to finding the black spot on my leg.
I already have lyme disease and coinfections (years misdiagnosed and currently three years into treatment)!!
What do I do? I am currently taking both Moxatag ER (extended release amoxcicillin) and biaxin.
Am I covered if this tick had lyme and/or coinfections or do I need to get on some other meds ASAP?????

UGH!! At least you are ON meds! That's a start! I would call your LLMD and see what he/she says. I would think they would want to put you on doxy for a few weeks in case you contracted ehrlichiosis.
I feel for you!! I got bit again about 6-7 months after ending 4 yrs of treatment! I only had to take doxy about 2 more months and I was fine!

Thanks for the advice. I'll call my doc tomorrow. Doxy sounds like it may be a really good idea. What about something to cover babs, too? Bart?

Doc's nurse called me back with a message from the doc.
He said that the biaxin I am already on has me covered for any potential that the tick may have had lyme and that I don't need to worry-just stay on my meds.
Does anyone agree/disagree with this advice?

I was bit again (EM rash) and got the full load of co infections after three prior years.
it had the "benefit" of getting me into the lyme literate community and more comprehensive treatment.(had untreated bart and who knows what else)
I know you are already treated so I guess that's my point...that you have a leg up on it. and if someone can be inadequately treated prior to a second bite and get nasty sicker if that was possible then you are in a better postion to deal with a second.
so scary though. I get that. We didn't "know" the first" time but now we do! I am better now after 7 months than after the previous three years of symptoms and treatment though.

Called doc to report I have been having left-sided cheek numbness since two days after discovered (and incorrectly removed) tick.
The doc said the cheek numbness may be from toxins from the tick saliva.
However, he is now adding doxycycline to my treatment regime as an added precaution.

Why were you in the woods? Were you protected? If I go anywhere near where ticks could be, I cover myself in lots of tick spray.
