I'm still struggling with brain fog. I've been taking a few different abx over the course of 6 months and still have a lot of brain fog. My friend who also has lyme believes that should of gone away by now. Unfortunately, it hasen't. At times I'm okay, but whenever I am a little anxious or overstimulated, it comes back. I'm a teacher, so it can really get bad when I'm teach or when I'm entertaining friends. I really hate it. Any advice?

I don't want to sound negative but for me it is the one symptom that hasn't gone away. I've been treating for over 1.5 years. Some people may have a better experience. It may also depend on how long you have had Lyme and which co-infections you have.

I still expect that one day it will be gone or better but it can take years of treatment.

When you say brain fog - how would you describe it? Mine is far more than a little brain fog it feels more like brain damage.

For me it feels like the light switch won't turn on. I am spaced out, have poor attention span, difficulty reading, and word recall issues. The more anxious I feel the worse it is and vice versa.

There is no set time frame for any symptom to disappear.

If your brain symptoms are getting worse then you should talk with your doctor about changing your med protocol. If you are generally getting better then hang in there, hopefully you'll start noticing improvements in your brain function soon.

Thanks for the information. No. The brain fog isn't getting worse. It just comes and goes. Some days are worse than others. The only two things that have gotten worse over the past 6 months are the shaking and panic attacks. Dr. said it was herxing. Do you know if they are a sign of babesia or bartonella? He didn't bother testing me for either of these co-infections.

I'm not sure if you've tried any herbal supplements but I've had good luck with Ginko Biloba tablets for the brain fog and concentration problems. Since I started them I don't have to crack jokes about how the bugs make me dumb [Smile]
