Hubby has been taking lactoferrin for several months during his babesia treatment with quinine and clindamycin. And then while on malarone and lariam.
But now that he is also taking artemisinin I am not sure if the lactoferrin should be continued?
Lactoferrin is supposed to sequester iron so that the body can use it, but it will be unavailable to parasites.
But artemsia products work by converting iron to a toxic form that kills parasites.
Anyone have an opinion on whether to continue the lactoferrin?
Hubby is slightly iron deficient.

i don't understand this, bea. i thought artemisininn was attracted to iron, therefore when treating a blood parasite, you want as little iron in your bloodstream as possible while the artimisinin is present in the blood.. so it will go to RBC's containing babesia rather than chase free floating particles of iron.
in that case, the supplement could theoretically help, tho i'm not familiar with lactoferrin.
am i missing something re: artemisinin?
