I had a very brief conversation today w/ the NP regarding my heavy metal toxicity results (was at a gym w/ my boys when she called so very distracted and will give her a call back).

She said the results of my IV heavy metal test showed an abnormally high result for mercury. I can be wrong but think she said normal is around a 2 and mine was I think a 30 or 32.

What questions should I ask her???

Thanks!

I'm not so sure about the testing and test results, how they read or anything. But my NP had tested me and I came back hi in Mercury and Cadmium.

I dont not if you are looking for which questions you want to ask in the results regard or treatment regard but heres some suggestions

1. What treatment they are going to use to chelate? I have been told by my np that it is best to do oral and iv biweekly to chelate the best.

2. If chelating would interfer with any of your current medications?

3. What to avoid while chelating and what might help detox the metals out safer or faster.

I am not a doctor and you should speak with your doctor/LLMD before doing anything. :-)

I'm sure others will come along and offer more input.

I would ask about how to remove metals safely from the body without doing tissue damage.

My acupuncturist opined that the product by Metagenics called Metalloclear is the best one. The reason: It helps your body to make more liver enzymes that break the metals down after they are pulled out of the cells.

Imagine chelating the metals but not being able to break them down? Exposure anew. To boost the metal-speficic liver enzymes along with it is important for your protection.

If this is from dental fillings, here is a safe protocol to remove them while greatly minimizing re-exposure: www.drhuggins.com

Here is a marvellous water filter, check out the performance data sheet, it's very impressive: www.multipure.com and the water tastes good too.

I would check with the local water district to ask for full disclosure data about water contaminants in your area. But a water filter is important, regardless. Keep in mind that mercury pollution can exist in absence of manufacturing because it is also made by geological processes which can't be controlled> That's where the water filter comes in.

Make sure you have no leaky gut syndrome before starting chelating therapy this is truly important! Read here: www.americanchronicle.com/articles/view/154338

PS Anna

On the National Resource Defense Council's site www.nrdc.org there is a chart showing which fish are highest/lowest in mercury.

I am having computer problems and until I get this fixed, am stuck hand copying links and it has not always worked out. Sorry for the vague site reference here.

You could enter Mercury Contamination in Fish into the search box and see what happens. It is in the Health section on the site above.

Best wishes, CI

THank you! I just spoke to someone from the Dr. Huggins site and got a couple of names (dentists located in Scranton PA and Boston). Going to see if I can find someone closer to where I live but good to have contacts. Thanks for the help!!

You're welcome Anna

FYI it is terribly important to have full protection from the mercury when the fillings are being drilled out of your teeth. Hal Huggins says that toxicologists agree that mercury is the most toxic substance on the planet except for two radioactive isotopes which are worse.

During drilling to remove the metals from your teeth, the mercury offgases and to protect you from this is really key.

As most dentists including Huggins-trained ones use a rubber dam in the mouth to protect you from swallowing bits of mercury, unfortunately little bits are still swallowed because the rubber dam has holes fitting around the teeth.

This seems like a small amount but Huggins (who has done mountains of research, 35 years, with a database of 65,000 patients from dentists trained by Huggins, and laboratory animal studies plus human studies above and beyond)....Huggins says that mercury is toxic enough that even a few molecules can do nerve and immune system damage. He has seen cancer, MS, Lou Gherig's Disease, Lupus, all respond to mercury removal and also to be caused by mercury exposure. To protect is key.

To protect you from the bits that are swallowed in the rubber dam, Huggins-trained dentists administer IV Vitamin C to buffer metals (this is not at all the same as taking oral vitamin C, not even close. Oral anything will be digested and therefore chemically altered. Also cannot directly bathe the tissues as it can when in the blood)

They also use a negative ion generator to bind with any positively charged mercury ions in the air to protect patient and dentist alike from breathing it in. They also don't want you breathing it in when you first walk into the office, so these machines are actually important.

There are other steps in the Huggins protocol too and while I don't agree with every single one of them, the gyst of it is, is that the Huggins protocol protects you far more than any other that I have read about to date.

I don't work for Huggins or anyone else connected FYI. I am just very passionate about alternative health and have spent the past 7 years reading constantly and studying herbalism et al formally.

Perhaps it is more convenient to find a local dentist but I wanted you to know about this.
I really and truly believe that other methods don't grant nearly as much protection as the Huggins protocol (even if many do grant a lot of protection, however).

There are studies showing which illnesses patients have recovered from after getting the amalgams taken out:

See also this youtube of a patient testifying for the FDA of her MS and her partial recovery after getting her fillings taken out (She did not mention doing any detox thereafter):

Best wishes, CI

Thank you CI. I just tried to send you a PM but your mailbox is full. I wanted to ask you to look at a website of a dentist that was recommended to me on this site to see how he compares. I am not sure if I can mention dentists by name (or is it just lyme dr.'s?) on a post so to be safe if you are OK w/ it I will PM you it when your mailbox is open.

I really appreciate all of your feedback. You are a wealth of knowledge!! I do want to make sure I do this right. It is tough w/ all the logistical stuff (2 young children, a husband who travels/busy work schedule, family not in immediate area) for appts that are local much less when travel is involved. I am so committed though to getting better so trying to figure it all out!
