I take gabapentin, generic sleeping pill and 2 glycine to help me sleep at night.
I wake up pretty out of it (must admit I am pretty out of it most of the time)
But, mornings are worse.
I have learned excedrin helps. I am able to drive 3 miles out of town, do a 10 min loop on my feet with a break half way and sometimes do something simple around the house...put in a load of laundry or put a few dirty dishes in the DW using power chair.
That is about it for the day.
I have been wondering if I adjusted the sleeping pill cocktail at night if I wouldn't be so out of it when I wake up in the am.
I did lower the glycine to two pills instead of 3 lately. That seemed to help a bit.
As I am typing this, maybe if I lower the glycine to another pill. Just take one pill.
The sleeping pill alone does not work.
I have tried different combos in the past leaving out one of the pills and have learned I need all 3
I could also maybe lower the doseage of the gabapentin.
Just kind of thinking via the keyboard this am.
I know we are all different in what works for us to get sleep.
I am just thankful I am sleeping now after years of not getting sleep.

Kam, I began taking Excedrin years ago after you posted that it helped you.
I found that I develop symptoms of gastritis (belching and reflux) if I take it on an empty stomach.
I take it as needed throughout the day, with food. I used to buy large bottles of the store brand, but now that I'm not getting out much, I look for it on sale at Amazon.com.
Have you tried taking Exedrin again, later in the day?

Maybe its the caffeine in Excedrin that's helping with the grogginess. Maybe just try organic coffee or tea instead of Excedrin so you don't put additional burden on the liver.

gabapectin makes me "drunk" the next day, any of the anti-seizure meds (Lyrica, Neurotin, Cymbalta do that to me) the morning is worse. Caffeine helps clear that for me.
I think Tammy is right it's probably the caffeine in the Excedrin

I took Excedrin once and the caffeine in it nearly did me in.
I have a hard time in the mornings too. I usually sleep until 10ish. Sometimes I don't actually get up until noon.

1. I go throught this when I start feeling concerned about taking excedrin but it is better to be able to do a few things than not.
2. I have yet to try several cups of coffee. I do have one cup in the am when brain is working well enough to make a cup.
...I think the excedrin helps with inflamation too but not sure ...also pain in body...sure of that one.
3. I do usually try and take it with something. usually a scoop of almond butter and goat's milk as eating first thing in the am is out since lyme and company hit.
4. Yes gabapentin makes me loopy. Can't take it first thing in the am. usually fall asleep after taking it but think naps help.
not taking it makes the body to painful or whatever it is doing to help

I have considered it. I do when the inflamed brain thing becomes to much.
but, I have considered taking it just so I will be able to do something.
My concern is I usually wake up in the middle of the night when I have had caffeine after noon and can't get back to sleep.
It is worth a try.
