i really didn't want to do it, but i called his office and left a very polite message with that nurse.

i said i was suffering from the thrush again. i had horrible white stringy stuff in my throat, a white cheesy throat, bad breath, red itchy fingers and ears.

oh geez, i feel completely awful....so bad.

i said he's treated it twice now with difulcan and would he please refill it and i would be hoping since he's so awfully busy and since this is the same thing, that i would not have to come in.

could he oh please refill it and just call my pharmacy.

and could you oh please call me at your convenience.

i really laid it on thick......

so guess what????? she just called and said we called in a refill of diflucan for you and oh by the way you're due for bloodwork for high cholesterol so come in for that.

oh thank you heavens!!!!! somebody up there and on this board must have been praying for me....

so thank you, thank you.

Hallejuah!!! [woohoo] How many days and what strength?

To help you actually get rid of this... do the DIET bigtime while you take the Diflucan. Get serious!
(you'll have less die-off this way too)

Praise the Lord! I was concerned what you were going to do next? lol

Happy yeast killing. Oh that's not suppose to be easy from what I've read from some about difucan.

Tutu will get you if you don't do the diet.

It should help... but since it's only 6 days at 100 then you really need to do the NO FUN DIET.. new term.

Trust me, I hate that diet more than anyone! [shake]

yeah if i were a drug addict they would give me those.

i'd be better off going to mexico. but i think you still need a doctor's prescription.

i was on one cruise and thought my yeast was acting up, went to the ship's doctor, and he said oh yes, diflucan. here, and he gave me two weeks. pure and simple.

diflucan is not a big deal, so i don't understand the friggin problem getting it.

i tell you if i knew somebody needed it badly enough, i'd mail it to them if i had it but i don't know anybody....

I don't get this; 100mgs for 6 days? Could this be cleared up in 6 days? Or am I missing something?

I have a script for 200mgs for 30 days with 3 refills.

I actually didn't ask for it...just ran the word yeast by the doc. Mine is the generic Fluconazole.

He also gave me Nystatin...not taking that now.
And not sure if I should take both at the same time.

Randi.. You don't need a script for meds in Mexico... TAKE MORE CRUISES!! lol

seren... She's not on abx so it MIGHT clear up in 6 days... probably not though .. but at least BETTER!!!

You CAN take Nystatin with Diflucan.

hey has anyone tried grapefruit seed extract? you can buy it at a health food store or in the health food section of a grocery store, it beats out candida (yeast/thrush) big time, no perscription needed, you can gargle it if you buy the drops form(tastes awful)and also take capsules...kills off bacteria and viruses too apparently, i take it when i feel a cold coming on and it knocks it down pretty fast.

need nystatin for mouth
diflucan systemic
you will herx very bad as the symptoms are the same as lyme.
should treat min 2 months if long term abx
lots of probiotics, live is best
no yeast,fungi(mushrooms) sugar, wheat, flour
beer,wine liqueur.
might want to get acyclovir to prevent overgrowth
and recurrence of viruses ie, shingles, ebv cmv
herpes.
i treated 3 months to get yeast symptoms under control.
NO ABX WHILE ON THESE OR YOUR WASTING YOUR MONEY.
it will not work if abx you are taking are causing continuous yeast production.
killing yeast is CRITICAL FOR GOING INTO REMISSION.
I DID NOT GO INTO REMISSION UNTIL I CLEARED UP YEAST. I FELT 100% BETTER IN 15 DAYS BUT CONTINUED FOR 3 MONTHS FOR TOTAL KILL.
must have liver enzymes done monthly.

Preach it brother!! Wish I could get everyone to understand how dangerous yeast/candida is to their health and how hard it is to get rid of once you get it.

If someone has yeast and doesn't know it, how will they know when to stop treating "the Lyme?"

they should stop the lyme treatment aka abx as soon as you feel reasonably sound. mentally, physically
and socially.
yes ,you will feel a point where you think you might want to try to ween off the abx .
at that point stop the abx and go on the
yeast regime asap.
my research and recommendation that has worked for
many is my "yeast cocktail"
1 stop all axb
2 stop all white food, yeast ,sugar, fungi, beer
wine
3 try to start a regime of exercise ,whatever,
even walking around house.
exercise in pure form produces endorphins and norepinephrine which act in our bodies to INCREASE PROTECTION AND IMMUNE RESPOONSE.
THIS IS WHY EXERCISE IS IMPORTANT TO REMISSION .
I dare not say recovery, since only people with acute lyme and quick treatment get better.
long term exposure without treatment ,you can only expect remission with some residual symptoms that will never get better.
my iq prior to lyme and co's was 176. yes i was smart at one time, now it is down to 128. a very large drop and some days i feel like its 75.
4] vfend or diflucan, vfend works better but is very very expensive, $1800 per month.
5 acylovir to prevent the overgrowth of herpes ,
cmv,shingles and other viruses.
6 meds should be taken even with a neg culture as
long term abx 2 months or more, you will alomst always have systemic yeast.
you will not know its yeast because many symptoms are same as lyme.
chemical sensitivity has been linked to yeast but
not in every case.
7 lots and lots and lots of live probiotics.
even if you taken during abx treatment you still get systemic yeast, since abx kills everything
except yeast and viruses.
HOPE THIS HELPS ALL OF YOU AND IT IS A NECESSARY PART OF GETTING BETTER FROM ANY CHRONIC INFECTION INVOLVING ABX TREATMENT.

Wow lots of great info on this thread!

Ugh - I knowwww I had a yeast issue before any obvious lyme symptoms surfaced. And I had always informed my drs about this concern but they said all my yeast tests came back "normal" (for the ob/gyn vaginal tests). If only I could've tried to manage it back then.

Anyway I never ate horribly like tons of soda/sugar but have been on abx on and off for years due to chronic sinus infections (prob yeast) so it was just a never-ending vicious cycle. Did an dr ever mention to take probiotics? Nope.

I remember when i took Biaxin for pneumonia over 5 yrs ago I got a horrible vaginal yeast infection within days - and this was just the normal dosage not the lyme dosage. So you can imagine I was terrified when I had to go onto Biaxin (not on that now) for lyme treatment.

I can't drink Kefir due to dairy issues -but is it enough with just high dose probiotics and yeast-free diet and no white foods? I can try gettin the OLE and see if I can tolerate it - those can be taken at the same time as probiotics or no? I'm already on Nystatin, SBC, and Theralac. I have to figure out if I have to get up at 5 am to fit all these pills into the day..

Doc Dav/Tutu-

Maybe this post - or a version of it with all the imporant info - can be kept up top as a sticky so everyone can refer to it?
Or call it the "yeast thread" or something like that?

just a suggestion- I feel everyone has so many questions on this topic!

Sorry to hijack post but need advice. I have a 5 year old that has a yeast rash. She had to take Keflex for a UTI. I've been using Lotrimin on her for almost a month and the rash will go away and I'll stop and within a day or 2 it is back. She is on Mindlinx Probiotics and eats Activia yogurt. What else can I do? Planning on bringing her back to pediatrician on Monday. strangely rash is on back of buttocks which I think is weird but responds to lotrimin so guessing it's yeast related. She was also incredibly gassy but that is improved.

yes but unfortunately the doctors do NOT believe in systemic yeast.

my refill is for three pills of 100 mg adn i can refill it only once until 2012!!!!

and i had to beg for that.

how in the world do you find a doc who believes in systemic yeast? even after i told him about my mother dying from it, he denied it.

so how can we treat it effectively if you can't get the difulcan? that's the problem.

i can watch what i eat and take probiotics until the cows come home, but it won't help. well ok, it will help but if it's a long term systemic problem, it will not cure it.

lotrimin is down the bottom of the totem pole
and if using topical, she may need systemic yeast treatment.

Never heard of strep butt. I would think it is contagious so be sure to wash hands, not like you wouldn't. Good luck and sorry she is sick.

Not to sidetrack, but is it really a UTI or is it lyme? Or, does the poor kid have both?
