Hello,
I'm working my way through all of the reading, can someone please clarify the difference between lyme infection and lyme disease?
Do they both come from tick bites or can you catch the infection some other way?
Is infection and early stage of the diesease?
Thanks

They are the same.

you said, "Is infection and early stage of the diesease?"

What do you mean?

--editing to add--- Oh, you mean "Is infection an early stage of the disease?" .. as I said above, it's the same thing.

Lyme disease is caused by a bacteria. So, a lyme infection is an infection with a bacteria.

Here is a quote from Dr. Burrascano:

"Lyme is defined as an infectious illness caused by the spirochete, Borrelia burgdorferi (Bb)."

So, as tutu said above, lyme disease and lyme infection are the same.

The question of HOW a person can get lyme disease is another matter. Most people get it from the bite of a tick. But, there may be many other ways as well--such as from bites of other insects or even getting it sexually from an infected person. The jury is still out about some of these other methods.

You don't have to be an outdoorsy person to get lyme. If you get mice in your house, the mice can bring the ticks right into the home. One lady says she got a tick bite from a tick on her Christmas tree. Also, many people never saw a tick and never got a bulls eye rash. I am one of them. So, that is a common thing.

I would differ a little in that I believe lyme infection can exist without it causing problems, and in that case, I would say such a person has lyme infection but not lyme disease.

Lyme disease is an infection of bacteria. Plain an simple, there's no difference.
