Hi folks:
Just thought I would post and update and get some advice on which way I should go with regards to my treatment.

Ive been more or less plateaued in the 90%s for the past 4-5 months (not a bad place to be, I know.) The symptoms that are remaining aremild left foot pain, mild tinnitus, mild calf twitching (and a few other muscles, but mostly the calves) and mild, intermittent night sweats.

I hadnt been able to make a dent in these sxs the past few months. In May, I switched to Minocyline (Daily) and Tindamax (5 day s every 2 weeks.) I started A-Bart a few weeks later.

After starting the A-Bart I had a huge flare in very traditional Bart-like symptoms.burning shins (I never had this before)pain on bottom of feet (Rarely get this), etc. Last week, I was able to ramp up to 20 drops of A-Bart and I did 1 week of FActive. It was my 3rd 1 week pulse of Factive that I have done.

So here is where I am todayafter all of this treatment, my foot pain is nearly gone for the first time in a year. The Bart has really been driven backbut I still have mild Bart sx. The twitching calves and mild foot pain are almost gone, but are still there a bit.

Id like to push for more Bart treatmentperhaps with Levaquin. Just get it done with. I think I chickened out on Levaquin last fall after I got some tenderness in my tendons. I had this with Factive too for a few days and it went away. Perhaps it would have gone away with Levaquin as well.

Anywaywhile I have been treating Bart these past 2 months, Ive had a lot of flares of Babesia-like symptoms..particularly during the week when I was off artemisinin and on Tindamax. I had sweats, air hunger (I NEVER get this), etc.

SoI dont know if I should push for more aggressive Bart treatment first, or change gears and go after Babesia Duncani. I think the Bart is really on the run and Id like to nuke it once and for all. But at the same time, I feel like Babesia may be the bigger problem as of now.

What would you do? Continue to go after Bart, or switch to Babs?

AlsoI notice my worst days as of now are when I am on Tindamax. Do you think this is lyme or Babesia? I could eat Flagyl like it was candy and nothing happened. But when I am on Tindamax, I get a bit dizzy, full ears, sweaty, etc. All Babesia symptoms.

Your thoughts?

hey Brad at 90+ % and a plateau,
i think it might be a good time for you to take a ABX holiday and see how you respond your body just might want off the meds right now and it might be time to go off, as you might do better ABX free right now.

this is what some LLMDS advocate, if you watch under skin, you can see that this is what DR B suggests to the park ranger after he mentions hitting a plateau.

so if it was me I would stop all ABX and see you you do, here is hoping your done

Yes..I know the scene. He says you can either add a drug or take a drug holiday.

Problem is...I still have symptoms that, to me, seem indicative of active infection (night sweats.)

So I'd like to treat for a bit more...but I agree I"m getting close. My brain is feeling particularly clear as of late.

Can't twitching be from a magnesium deficiency? And foot pain can be sluggish lymphatics.

What about continuing to treat bart while going after the babs? I took Malarone and Artemisia with the Levaquin. I believe that is also when I was taking Lariam.

Have you treated parasites? Humaworm also hits bartonella from what I'm told.

Good luck! Keep us posted on what the doctor says. I'm glad you're doing so well.

My first thought is to consider treating babs and bart at the same time. I ran into a roughly similar situation recently and was very helpful to treat both at the same time--for me it was just a couple weeks.

I wouldn't stop. I would continue to treat at least one, if not both. You're almost there!

Hi bcb:

I know you will work through this but it will take time. From my reading you have to treat the Bart first as Mepron or Maralone reduces the effectivenes of Levaquin (In Dr. B's guidelines).

Once Bart under control then I think the Mepron / Zith for Babs and Tindamax for Lyme.

My daughter is still on the Mepron / Zith for Babs and we started mid May last year. We had to stop the Tindamax for a while (we now worry neuro symptoms will come back).

She had great neuro improvements on the tindamax and Dr. Sapi's research shows this is an excellent dx for the cyst form.
