Taking the magnesium calcium combo is good - as I mentioned, you are most likely low in magnesium.

However, in the product you mention, the ratio of mg's is off. You're supposed to take twice as much mg of calcium as you take in magnesium in order for both to be assimilated by your body.

So, for example, if you take 200 mg of calcium, you take 100mg of magnesium with it.

The Correct Calcium to Magnesium Ratio
The National Academy of Sciences recommends a bare minimum of 1,000 milligrams per day of calcium, although because of limited absorption, twice as much can be taken. The recommended daily amount of magnesium is around 400 milligrams. For equilibrium, the body needs a ratio of 2:1 of calcium to magnesium.

The body easily stores excess calcium, but magnesium is quickly eliminated, so it is rare to have an excess of this mineral in the body. Calcium needs vitamin D, and the correct amount of magnesium, to be utilized. An excess of alcohol, soda, zinc, fluoride, vitamin D and calcium, all increase the need for magnesium.

I haven's used either of these brands so I can't give you feedback on them.

There shouldn't be any interaction between the magnesium and xanax..

If you have any concerns about interactions between drugs or drugs and supplements. You can do a check on this website:

valerian root tincture...A droppersful in a small glass of

water took the edge off for me while I was waiting for the

magnesium to be balanced...valerian is the natural source of valium

...but a safe and natural alternative...non addictive...

Two excellent amino acids for anxiety are:

L- taurine (taurine)- powder or caps...powder is tasteless so can be stirred into water etc.

GABA - powder or caps

Powders are generally more cost effective and can be blended into protein shakes etc.

An internet search will give you lots of specifics and confirmation.

It's true about the 2:1 ratio of calcium-magnesium.
However, many supplements do the opposite, the 2:1 magnesium-calcium ratio.
It very much depends on individual needs.
Lyme patients tend to be magnesium deficient, according to my LLMD

Theanine is great, it's a serotonin booster. This can help with anxiety and sleep, alike.

Make sure you are not getting an excess dose of anything. The book by Earl Mindell, The Vitamin Bible of the 21st Century tells you about vitamin/supplement benefits, excess, deficiency, and other information. Very handy pocket-sized reference to have around.

As for drug-nutrient interactions, I would strongly advise you to call your pharmacist and ask.

Xanax influences the uptake of GABA in the brain, and it is possible you might get an overdose if you pair it up with GABA. Be sure to ask. I would wonder about taking xanax with L Theanine too, the interaction is usually with SSRI's but you never know. Be sure to ask, because symptoms of serotonin excess are not something that you want to have.

Best, CI

In addition to the 2:1 ratio of calcium to magnesium, this should be in an acidic base... the supplement I take (powder) also has ascorbic acid. This helps with absorption.

I saw motor tics disappear in my son when we found the right combination of calcium/magnesium + vit c!

Nicole, let me know if the supplements help. I have tried all of them but the Gaba, didn't try that because I was taking xanax. I couldn't tell they helped but still take the mag. calicum, vit d3 and omega 3. Also I am suppose to take a small dose of the eight essential amino acids but haven't taken them regularly.

While you are going through this if the xanax helps it wouldn't hurt to up your dose. My doctor did mine and now I am back to 1/4 mg four times a day.

That seems to be the dose that helps me the most and I will take them as they seem to be the only thing that takes the edge off.

I am not sure why antibiotics increases my anxiety but they do. I usually take 1/4 mg of xanax about an hour then take the abx. then in about 2 or 3 hrs later if needed I take another one. This seems to help somewhat .. The doc told me if necessary I could increase the xanax to 1/2 mg ...

Even with the meds this ride is miserable. I am only on a very small dose of abx for now the doc will be slowly increasing it.

Oh, I feel for you I so can relate.. Hope the supplements help..
