When I have this had this. The only thing that helps is Xanax. I take a small dose .25. I get really worried about addiction but I was on it for 2 weeks straight and was fine it really helped. Honestly it puts more sterss of your immune system when your that emotional I know the feeling.

I would ask your LLMD for xanax. I only take it now PRN. Usually when I am herxing and cant calm down.

I was in terribble panic on Saturday I just started Septra DS and didnt titer up went full dose. BAM on the 5-7 days Panic Insomnia...It was bad. When I was up Saturday From 11am-4:30am and hadnt slept bc I was in panic my fiance woke up bc I was crying and so scared adn got me the Xanax. and I took it. Within 25 minutes I felt so much better.

I always fight taking it I dont know why.

Thats just my 2 cents. I got a bottle of 90pills .5 in the beigning of AUG.and I have about half of them left so I rarley use them.

tricia386~ I do exactly the same thing. I only take it when absolutely necessary.

Typically i breakdown and take .25 when my anxiety gets to the point of heart pounding out of my chest feeling.

didogs, Although xanax can be addictive, if used sparingly you would probably be fine with it.

Didogs, what are you treating with?
Can you take magnesium with it, at least occasionally?

The liver needs magnesium when it's detoxifying the poisons left behind by the dead Lyme bacteria.
Low magnesium can cause anxiety, depression, panic attacks, insomnia, and many other symptoms, including palpitations.

If you're taking an antibiotic that negates the use of magnesium, at least try to eat foods high in mag.
Dark chocolate
Almonds, almond butter
Beans, kidney beans, baked beans, bean soup, rice and beans, bean burritoes.

thank you all! I do take ativan and it helps. I am on rifampin and zythromax right now. I do not take magnesium but sounds like something i should look into. I didn't know low magnesium could cause all of those symptoms Carol. I have them all!

I LOVE ativan. If you're having a particularly tough time of it, though, there's always stuff like effexor or paxil. But continue to take the ativan as needed until the long-term meds would take effect (several weeks).

I hear that paxil has anti-cytokine (inflammation) activity, too, so it can kill 2 birds at once. I've been taking it for years now (before I was diagnosed with babesia) and I swear by it.

Hang in there!
